Diagnosed 2017 PSA 105 started ADT, 6 rounds Docetaxel and radiation PSA drops to undetectable. Castrate resistant 2022 started Abiraterone and prednisone this failed after 3 months. Start Xgeva and Xofigo 2023. PSA back at 105 November 2023. Start 10 rounds of Docetaxel and PSA starts dropping again. After first treatment PSA drops to 62 then 17 and then 5. Currently on 4th round and I am very happy that I am responding to Docetaxel again. I am planning on doing 10 treatments. I am taking Grastofil injections for the first week after infusion and this is helping me stay healthy. The first week after the infusion is when you need to take it easy then the next two weeks you can start working out again and work.

Does anyone have any idea how long after these 10 rounds of Docetaxel that this disease will progress. I know we all respond differently to these treatments. I guess I will update on this later this year.

My dad will be getting docetaxel next week when he is Covid free (stage 4 castrate resistant) and I have been wondering the same thing about how long the effect/benefit may last. Hopefully others comment about their experience. Good luck with the docetaxel!! —michele

Hi,

This MY experience with Docetaxel. My PSA was 21.1. I had 8 rounds of Docetaxel. My PSA dropped to 5.7. Three months later my PSA was 23.2. So for me, Docetaxel failed. I wish you better luck.

Great outcome! Docetaxel may "re-set" sensitivity to second-gen hormonals, as it did in the PRESIDE trial:

I was hoping Docetaxel might resensitize me to Nubeqa since it is very similar to Xtandi, but it appears no such luck.

I had thought that doxy me failed completely. I had 10 rounds and not long after the 10th PSA began doubling at around one month periods. I was told that the doxy was not a failure that it held PC in check during the treatments. So for me it was just during the treatments that it helped. Not sure if it would have made sense to do something different first but as I remember Pluvixto was not available for chemo naive patients at the time and still might not be other than in trials. Doing Pluvicto now and it seems to be helping reduce pain and lower PSA slightly. At least it is not doubling every month. Will have another SPECT scan in about a week to see what the Pluvicto is doing. I was hoping that it would drop PSA to a low level, it didn't. I was hoping the same for chemo, it didn't.

Docetaxel worked well for my husband. He went on zytiga×prednisone after chemo ended in Feb 2018. That's still his current treatment. Details in my profile. Gleason 9 PSA over 677 with mets at diagnosis.

I went through 6 rounds of Docetaxel and I seemed to respond well. It dropped my PSA from 40 to 1, but PSA started rising again just 4 months after treatment, so the benefits of Docetaxel only lasted a short time for me.

How much chemotherapy can a guy take. I look like a different man than I did before all this treatment. I am thankful that I am alive, now need to get used to the new version of the man that I am.
