Just wondering if anyone did the full rounds of 6 months of doxil. What did you do after it was done.? I have one more chemo and then we will have the discussion of what to do next. My onc is talking about taking a break for a few months but that makes me feel nervous about progression.
I have been metastatic for 8 years now. I was on ibrance for over 5 years. Also did xeloda, verzenio , fulvestrant, arimidex to name a few. I don't know what could possibly be next but I have been on something this whole time and the thought of getting off is frightening.
I did just find out I have and ESR1 mutation-- so Orserdu??
Just looking for any thoughts.
thanks !!!

hi miss Caw, I’m similar you… started doxil in Mid may and going to the cardio oncologist in 2 weeks for him to assess the cardiac monitor… my heart rate very low..so is that cardio toxicity? Don’t know… but if it is then I will not get more doxil and will be shopping for next agent… and it has to be available in Nz too… so maybe an old agent rather than something shiny and new because they have socialized medicine so don’t always have the newer medicines. So I will follow along and hope you get lots of suggestions. Thanks for the good question!
Why not follow your oncologist's suggestion, and give your body a break from medication, which, like cancer, is not natural to it. I'm sure your oncologist will schedule lab work to see what happens to your cancer as your body has a chance to recover from so much medication.
Do keep in mind that cancer does NOT grow overnight. If it does regrow, it will take months to recover from all that chemotherapy!
I just did my 9th doxil infusion and am scheduled for my 10th in November. I was diagnosed with met in 2005 and have been on the same meds plus as you in the intervening years. I'll have scans before the November treatment. Previous scans were mixed and markers are climbing again. I will follow this thread in hopes good alternative is suggested.
hi Caw- I was hoping for more suggestions to learn from… but since there wasn’t I will tell you what I think might be next for me… could be weekly taxol… maybe enhertu… what about affinator… have you had that one?
Hi Betty~~~ My oncologist has not mentioned any possiblities yet for my future treatment. I was on Affinitor but only for about 6 months.. It just wasn't doing anything for my cancer. I've heard others do well on it but not me.
So for now it's Doxil I still have 2 more cycles scheduled so we'll see what happens. I am also still hoping perhaps someone will have more suggestions. Is enhertu for Her2 low or can you be Her 2 neg??
I think her2 low but don’t worry most people are her 2 low… not many truly her 2 neg… at diagnosis the pathologist scored the tumor as IHC 1+, 2+ or 3+… if pts were 3+ they were considered Her2 Positive and got Herceptin like treatments… the rest were called Her2 neg… whether they were scored as 1+ or 2+… I’m not sure how many of them are actually scored 0….
I just had my first infusion yesterday and it was Doxil. Day 2 and feeling ok, waiting for the ball to drop. I have been on every oral there is and ran out of options. Osurdu did not work for me at all but I got 7 moths out of Truqap and I have the ers-1 mutation also. Maybe ask your doc about it. Any info you can share on the Doxil would be appreciated.
I just had my first treatment with Doxil and felt fine for almost a week after. However, now I am experiencing nausea, weakness, fatigue. I read where these side effects get worse with each treatment. Wondering what experience anyone has had on this treatment?
