hi, I’ve been taking Ibrance for about 10 months and usually suffer from constipation. However for the last 2 months I have been suffering from diarrhoea every day. Has anyone experienced this and what did you do to rectify this problem? Thanks Claire

ibrance and diarrhoea
I am usually constupated too from not liking water or fluids thst much. And then put on Verzenio and had diahrea so kind of the same as you are experiencing. You prob need to take a half tab of immodium… and slow it down. I twice took the whole tab and both times suffered with terrible constipation like I never had before ( worse than my usual)so I think with our usual slow metabolism, I would be careful and take just half immodium… then when things settled what worked for me is a small glass of water at night with a small cap of miralax mixed in. Like magic I had a BM in the AM. That has never happened to me! And suddenly I am regular even on Verzenio! Hope that is helpful. Worked like a charm.
I am surprised they didn't offer this but I am on Verzenio and take Loperamide supplied with it. Follow the instructions and you should be ok. If not, then talk to your nurse or oncologist for more help. This is usually controllable.
Cheers, June S.
I have issues with diahrea too and I take Imodium fairly regularly. That is what they told me to do.
are you taking the capsule or the tablet? the capsule contains lactose, and the tablet does not. this body is sensitive to lactose. when this body received the capsule, the upset stomach and irritable bowel were present; it has lessened with the tablet. when it occurs, i drink water w/a teaspoon of baking soda, as well as liquid IV, and broth. the BRAT diet relieves diarrhea.
I can only get the hard tablet now here in Perth WA. I have taken one anti diarrhoea tablet so far and it looks like I will need to take these regularly, yuk! What does the baking sofa do? I can Google the liquid iv and brat diet. I am so over the gas and digestive problems! 🙈😵💫🌸
this body likes the tablet, better then the capsule. with regard to the baking soda, it helps maintain a healthy pH balance throughout the digestive system for optimal digestion, minimized acid reflux, and healthy bowel functioning. i add the liquid IV to the fluid intake, when taking Ibrance, for hydration and minerals.
FYI... with diarrhea, the body loses potassium, an important mineral in our body; there's a partnership w/sodium. thus, the BRAT, and broth, helps with (excess) diarrhea and/or vomiting. i obtain most of the potassium and sodium from fruits, vegetables, legumes.
i am not a doctor... i'm a health coach... sharing what works for me.
Before I went on Ibrance, I never had any kind of GI issues except maybe eating too much on Thanksgiving. After going on Ibrance, I had everything. One day constipation, or diarrhea, or horrible stomach and back pain (gas?) or everything on one day. Someone either told me or I read it somewhere to try OTC magnesium. I started taking 1 a day, 250mg, and as if by magic all the problems cleared up like 95%. It's cheap, natural, available everywhere and it's not going on yet another drug. It's certainly worth a try.
One more comment about magnesium. The usual magnesium oxide sold at stores is not well absorbed--only about 4%. And it causes fluid to be pulled into the intestine! Think Milk of Magnesia--ie mag ox. I take magnesium glycinate. And magnesium threonate for the brain. There are other forms too. Check with Dr. Google! I got some info from a book on intestinal health--titled "Trust Your Gut" by an integrated medicine MD.
Thanks for the information. I will look for the correct magnesium. Do you mind telling me why magnesium for the brain? Thanks Claire 🌸
In the book "Trust Your Gut" the authors recommend "Magnesium supplements in absorbable forms (citrate, glycinate, taurate, or malate) of 400 to 800 mg daily. Magnesium supports key chemical reactions relevant to energy, mood, sleep, and general oopmph power." At an on-line site I read that Magnesium threonate is for memory and the brain, and corsses the Blood Brain Barrier. Magnesium glycinate (or bis-glycinate) is for sleep and smooth and skeletal muscle relaxation. BTW--it says Magnesium citrate pulls water into bowels also. Try doing some research and see if you can confirm my findings! Best to you. Lady Kat
