Nail Care?

Hello All,

I am just curious, I am on Ibrance, Letrozole and Zometa. I do my on pedicures and manicures. Lately, when I take off my nail polish, my toe nails look scuffed up and white. My finger nails are starting to look like this too. I take Biotin 10,000 mcg. to strengthen my hair and nails, but wondering if I should take more? Or another supplement?

Currently I take Tumeric (curcumin), CoQ10, Vitamin D, Calcium, Vit K-2, Vitamin B12.

Thanks for your input!

I was told not to take biotin as it can affect tumour markers!!.. my nails are awful so I’ve been to a salon and had gel nails on..they look good but obv fake

So confusing when we’re told different things..I thought I’d messed up my markers which keep going up by taking biotin ..such a worrying time

Hi Barbteeth, there are so many conflicting things that we here from other people’s oncologist. My oncologist told me not to take mushrooms, then I hear from others that it is okay. My oncologist said Biotin is fine. 🤔

Yes it’s crazy! I’ve been taking maitake mushroom caps since reddish nosed in 2016 with no effect to markers. I also have been taking biotin with no effect to markers too.

The more I hear and read on supplements the more confused I get! My onc doesn't support anything except vit d and b12!

I use the nail dip and do it myself. It’s easy once you get the hang of it. I’ve been on Letrozole and Ibrance for nearly two years. My nails improved and look healthy once I started using the dip on them.

Please check out a supplement that I’m on. It’s anazing. Google “Cell Stop”

What is nail dip please?

Instead of having acrylics put in, I just have them dip my real nails and it coats them like an acrylic but much better for your nails. It’s a colored powered that they use. I finally just ordered my own nail dip online and dip my own nails now.

Ibrance ruins nails, not much you can do about it except get dipping

I was wondering if you are seeing success with Ibrance, etc. w/ taking biotin? I started taking a multi- vitamin in January of 2019 that has biotin. By February my markers jumped 20 points... first time since starting treatment. So I stopped the multi-vitamin and things have plateaued. Not sure it was biotin, iron or ??? My nails tear too easily & thumbnails are bumpier/pitted more than others.
