Thank you to the ladies that told me to try cancer care in my area for a wig. I will be having chemo after the holidays and was upset that wigs are so expensive. Thanks to this site I was told to try cancer care. I did, and I am so happy. I called, set up an appointment for wig try on. The woman was so nice. I tried on about 10 new wigs in the same color and style of my own hair. I did not look bad!!!.I found two that I loved and then she had me try on a lighter blond short wig. Made me look different. We were laughing. I was told I could take one wig for free. She insisted I take the two I loved and then put in the short blond one. She said I may have a blond day you never know. It was a pleasant day. I felt so much better knowing I am ready for my Chemo. She also gave me a cap for under the wig and a wig stand. Then invited me to a Christmas party and a lunch where there will be lawyers that make you a will, power of attorney and any other papers you may need. She said it is free, they donate there time. She also said I could have private counseling if I need it at no charge. If you want to donate cancer care is the place to help. I tried American cancer center but they go by your income. But they too have some good programs. I will be going back to learn how to apply make up to look like you have eye lashes and eyebrows.
I hope I can get through this part of my journey. Trying hard to get ready for it. But if it will get me maybe five years remission I will try hard.
Thank you for all the support I receive on this site.

I'm so glad that you found this kind of assistance! There are so many things we take for granted before cancer.....like hair! I think most of us need to find the resources that are out there, and it isn't always easy. I hope you will enjoy those wigs and that they will help you feel as much like yourself as possible.
I understand, I have been down also. I see her on the 13 th. Have not called since I read the scan. She said we should go right to chemo. I wanted to try verzenio, she said ok but has not called in to pharmacy yet. I keep thinking it will not work either since she said hormone therapy is no longer working. I might just stay with the Faslodex and start chemo in Jan. So mixed up. Should I bother having side effects during the holiday or just wait.
