Morning Dawn, Your doing great. pity about OH, but I must admit my hubby quit at least 10 yrs ago he never said anything but it must have been awful for him. I confined my smoking to under the cooker hood, but I must admit I always felt guilty and never really relaxed, sure its all in the mind. Perhaps you ought to tell him about my prob I know I would never wish this on anyone. When you cough you blame the cigs where in fact like me they are probably covering up what is really going on. Take care of yourselves as no one else will. have a good day. xxxxxx
John I am just going to have to stop reading your posts , you make me feel so hungry. I think you should aim for masterchef. happy cooking and have a good evening.
I tried getting on here early this morning but the gremlins were about and the site was down. The weather was soooo dull first thing but then the clouds started breaking and now we have wall to wall sunshine - with warmth.
Nice to see you today Jilly, hope it's sunny where you are so you can go for your walk round the tarn.
Cake face! Orange and almond cake sounds absolutely wonderful - save some for me please! Weird thing after my comment yesterday about the paella, A friend phoned me last night and invited me to dinner tonight and said they're cooking paella! How spooky is that?!
Thank for opening up with your usual cheery picture Jillygirl. I hope you are feeling a little better today.
Sounds like you are having a busy day John. It's dull here today but at least not raining. A little bit of sun always make you feel more cheerful I think.
I am struggling at the moment with cravings, well I have been for the last 3 days and my lozenge intake has gone up from 5 or 6 to 8. This morning I was thinking I could go to the shop at lunchtime and if I smoked in the car, no one would know. Then I thought who am I kidding, it's only me it will be affecting. Not sure why I am feeling like this after 6 weeks but I suppose we all have days when we feel a bit down or under the weather so for us ex-smokers I think we link cigs with making us feel better. Sorry for moaning but I needed to get that off my chest, thanks for listening
You sound as if you are doing really well Dawn and that's great. I need some of Sue's spears I think. Going for a walk round the ping pong table now
Hi Kazz , Dont be sorry about moaning, I think most of us have had a good moan on here, I am sure it helps. So moan as much as you want. At least you sound as if you have got the upper hand now, and not those ciggys. Well done. Enjoy your walk round the table.,
Kazzacoc, Dont ever be sorry about moaning, I think we all have a good moan and groan on here, it does you good. At least yoour being sensible and stopping yourself from smoking. Its not easy but it really does get better. Enjoy your walk round the table.
Thanks Jillygirl, no I couldn't see the first pic. Thanks for saying it's ok to moan and for your ongoing support xx I've been for a walk round that table and I've had a packet of chocolate buttons. Not ideal I know but better than smoking. I might have to think about doing some exercise now to burn the calories off
Do you still get craving Jillygirl, after 7 months? I know mine aren't as often as at the very beginning so I am presuming they go less and less as time goes on and hopefully don't last as long.
Hi Kazz, no I think I can safely say my cravings have gone now. I still have inhalator in my jacket pocket just as re-assurance but havent needed it yet. I think I would have done by now if I was going to. Keep at it your doing great.
Hiya Kazz, sorry you're having a bit of a tough time at the moment. I also had times like this and coming on here and having a good old moan is part of what we're all about. Get those spears out and give the cravings a good old ZAP!!! I still have times when I think I wouldn't mind a fag - even today when I came in from the garden. BUT we now that after all our hard work that would just be a bit of a daft thing to do. Yes, go for the chocolate buttons! You can counteract them by running, no, SPRINTING round that pingpong table! (Imagine everyone's faces if you did that. )
Hola! I'm not sure what is going on with this site today, but I'm struggling to access it and so to be on the safe side, I'm copying all my messages before I post!
Lovely to see you back on form Jillygirl I'm loving the ping-pong table tennis table for Kaz
JohnUK, I think that you are going to have to share some of your recipes with us (idiots guide though for me please!) maybe you could post any healthier ones in Jillygirl's Cafe... Hope your Paella goes well tonight
Andi, hope you enjoy your Paella tonight too... It's not with Cake Face is it?! How funny
Kaz, hope you are feeling a bit better. Your lozenge use is quite low really, so don't worry if you feel that you are having to use a couple extra. Don't forget, when you first quit, even though nicotine can leave your system within 48 hours, it can take 8-12 weeks for those nicotine receptors in your brain to stop 'shouting out' for nicotine. When using lozenges, the majority of people will use between 8-12 each day but you can use up to a maximum of 15-25 daily. You are heading in the right direction so just keep on, keeping on and we'll get you there - Have just been picturing you sprinting round that table following Andi's suggestion - really made me laugh!
Dawn, well done on reaching day 9, you'll be at day 10 before you know it! With regards to other people smoking at home, it would be nice to encourage them to take their smoking outside, if this can't happen - is there one room that can be used in the house instead, maybe leave the window open? I'm not assuming that you may live in a mansion, but how about if there is one room that you could keep totally smokefree? Do you think your OH would go for that? You are doing so well at the moment, just try and stay as positive as possible
Look at the time! Where has this day gone? This week even?!
Thanks Andi and Jillygirl... well no one would see me as it's in a quiet part of the building but imagine my face if I did that bright red and shiny, It's good to know that the cravings do get less in quite a short period of time, months rather than years and it would be a daft thing to do to smoke now. I will get my supersonic purple spear on to the little critters at least my arm muscles will get a good work out
It was only a small bag of chocolate buttons Andi so I'm sure a leisurely stroll will counteract that I need to break myself in gently or I will end up with a twisted ankle like you, I might build up to a skip round the ping pong table xx
Thank you EmJay it's good to know that my lozenge intake isn't too high, I was a bit concerned that I was having more than usual, it's also good to know that it can take 8 to 12 weeks for the nicotine receptors to close down. I thought I was taking a step backwards.
I'm glad you found the thought of me sprinting round the ping pong table funny, the thought of it made me feel quite ill
I would like Cake Face to make a cake with no fruit in it then I would have some, he is making it with orange in it, unless he meant Terry's chocolate orange Is that what you meant Cake Face?
I hope the cravings are not to bad for you now Kazz, my spears are winging there way to you just in case, don't go hurting your ankle skipping round the ping pong table
I tried your orange and almond cake John, it was delicious
It's nice to see you on here Jillygirl hope you had a lovely relaxing day
Thanks for yesterday Andi, it really helped, enjoy your meal tonight :
If i've missed anybody out i'm sorry, my one brain cell isn't working very well today
I'm away to see about tea now, before hubby and son start eating each other xx
Hi Sue, So glad your back on track. Know what you mean sometimes chatting cheers us up and other times just want to be on our own. Gosh I daren`t eat anymore cakes etc I have never stopped eating. dont know if its just greed or my nerves.
Like my hubby says I will no doubt lose weight very shortly. I thought I would lose weight just with worrying. Probably would but all you lovely people keep me focused.
Hi Jillygirl, love the pic, just hoe i'll look shortly if i don't watch watch i'm doing
I'm glad your on here having a laugh Jillygirl, it''s the best thing to do, my aunt was told that by here oncologist, to stay positive and halve a laugh, although i know it's not always easy, but you know you can come on here and we'll all help you
You two are hilarious, you should be on the stage You've definitely taken my mind off any cravings I had.
Thanks for the spears Sue I definitely needed them today. I wont be doing any skipping round the ping pong table until the New Year, not saying which one
I agree with Jillygirl, sometimes you need company and sometimes you just need to be on your own. I'm glad you are back with us and feeling better.
Those pics are brilliant. I used to absolutely love skipping, I think I would collapse with exhaustion now I'll hold the rope and you two can do the skipping. My arm muscles are going to be huge with turning the rope and throwing spears.
I love that one about the fridge magnets Sue, I am going to use that as my excuse for putting on weight. xx
Of course it is. you know i have been practicing with my grandaughter. Forgot to take my stillettoes off from last night though. ( wondered why I wasnt comfy in bed. )

I don't remember any of those skipping songs. I'm not sure what we sang, seem to remember something about salt and pepper Don't know what's up with Wayne, he might be able to play footie but I bet he's not as good as us at skipping We could always tie him up with our rope then throw spears at him.
Jilly will you please take those stillettoes off, you will get bunions or you will end up with a bad ankle like Andi skipping in them.
What has Pete done to deserve all my... I mean this chocolate. Hi Pete, hope you've had a good day.

Hi Kaz, yep had a good day thankyou for asking young Lady, i've managed to read some of the posts on here, and it sounds as if you have had a couple of bad days with them flippin cravings gal
I can go all day without hardly any, then other days they are at me, coming from everywhere
Thanks Sue, at least you didn't have most of it like Pete did with the cake he sent me the other day, sorry when Monkey ate it I notice he didn't eat any of the Smartie cake that he just gave you, can I have a piece of that please? Thanks Pete, yes I would definitely say chocolate is my colour
I am exactly the same Pete, most of the time now I'm ok with just the odd craving sneaking up on me but today was not good and I came very close to heading out to the shop. I'm feeling a lot better now thank you, and it really is down to everyone on here, you all really lift my spirits and you make me feel more positive. Thank you, I think all this cake helps as well oh yes and the spears Sue gave me
I'm glad you've had good day, you are doing really well. You hardly mention how you are doing with giving up so I hope you are ok and next time you get some bad cravings you can come and do some skipping with us. Hmmm I wonder how easy it would be to skip and eat cake at the same time then we wouldn't be putting on any extra pounds
Sue you have really got the hang of these pics now, you do it really quickly. You are up to Jilly and Pete's standard of quick fire pics now
Thanks Sue, don't worry about blowing up like a balloon we will think about doing some skipping tomorrow We really need to get Jilly some trainers as well, get her out of those stillettoes she's so attached to Can't believe she even wears then with her jimjams
I'm wondering if you all think I'm greedy, I haven't got a full cake to myself yet. I reckon you all think you will get your slice before I get my hands on it hehehehe
Ha! Well don't just stick your head under them and leave your bum in the air or you know what will happen whooooooooooooooooshhhh =============> 180
No Pete I don't think they are Pete seeking, we wouldn't throw them your way after you have given us chocolate : ) don't bite the hand that feeds you chocolate is what I say.
Hmmm not sure Jillygirl that looks more like a lethal weapon than a shoe, couldn't you wear just one in bed but something a bit safer. Just thinking of your hubby, he might wake up looking like a pin cushion with that.
