Well today was day 4, the heavy cravings have subsided and I may be speaking too soon, but this is easier than I thought It would be. I understand nicotine is out the system after 72 hours so that mark has passed that now. I'm am eating a fair bit more and will have to make sure I don't swap one crutch for another but I figure a bit of weight gain is worth it if it means I can kick the smoke.

Went for my first moutain bike ride this eve, only 16k but 12 PR's on strava, bit of coughing and sputtering early on but the tightness in the chest was so much better. The climbs seemed easier and I definitely noticed an improvement in my fitness, after just 4 days!! The times speak for themselves, bearing in mind it was dark, raining and muddy, I beat my dry summer times on 12 trails!!

Really given me a boost, the vape in the drawer has now been chucked and cant wait to see the next set of 'smoke free' improvements.

Well done SR, it sounds like you're well on your way. Remember to drink plenty of water, 🚰especially as you're training. It's important to flush out the toxins and keep yourself hydrated.🚴👍

Thanks Tubby. I've been going through a serious amount, so thirsty all the time! The exercise really helped shift some of the gunk in my lungs (as it always does), only this time I'm not replacing it with more! I'll keep the water on hand! My mind is still telling me a little smoke wont hurt but biking this eve really gave my head a boost!

Congratulations! I'm 5 weeks now and that first few days were definitely the hardest part so for you it's only going to get easier from now on. It's really worth it, the benefits are amazing. I have started running (in my 50's no less) and would not have believed this was possible a few months ago.

Thanks Rigpig, that's great to hear! I just cant believe the benefits after a few days, tonight just gave me the boost I needed. Last week I was willing the ride to end, this week, it was so much easier. Cant believe I convinced myself this wasnt doing me any harm before!
