Hi, new to this site, but I have tried everything from will power to lozenges, patches, sprays and vaping. Im 48 and smoked for 33 years. I see people say 'oh I've given up and it was easy' so why is it that I've not been able to do this.
I can go without beer, and meat and all kinds of things for months, but cigarettes I can go no more than 2 days.
Has anyone tried the medication, whats everyone elses way of quitting the dreaded weed???

I have been using the lozenges and inhalator and find them really helpful but I think the biggest help is that I started the couch to 5k running program and that helped massively. I have been running now since the 7th August and stopped smoking on the 2nd Sept and with each day that goes by and each run that I go on I feel better and better for stopping and stronger and more determined to stay stopped!

I used Champix to help me with my quit and have been quit for 2.5 years now. As with anything it still takes determination and changing of mindset to quit and stay quit.
Champix works by dampening the Nicotine receptors in your brain, so you feel less inclined to smoke over time. This is not NRT and you can only get in on prescription. You will still get cravings and withdrawal symptoms but it worked for me as I began to get less and less enjoyment out of smoking.
You were me a year ago... same age, same amount of years smoking. Whoever said it was easy was lying lol. It's hard but so very worth it. I tried Champix and had a horrible reaction to it so I tried the patches (did it through the NHS) and somehow they worked. I look back and am still shocked that this small sticky thing could stop me smoking, but here I am 15 months later and not touched a cigarette. Whatever you choose to use, good luck
Hey Sprozzy, I have quit numerous times. Always cold turkey. This time I'mhoping to succeed. Maybe it's a time of life thing, I'm 50. I was half way through a joint in early January, thought this is disgusting and stopped. It has been easier than previous times although for a couple of months I was horrid every evening for a few hours. Good luck, it can be done. This place is great. Kind words and support.
