Today is my 9th day without a cigarette and I am hoping that it gets easier soon as I am really finding it tough going. My partner made the decision to stop a few days later so life at home has been tense to say the least and we have found that our normal routine of coming home from work, having a coffee, going out in the garden for a smoke and talking about our days has come to a complete stop.
I am using the nicorette lozenges which I started with yesterday and I have to admit they have helped a lot with the physical cravings but it is the 'routine' smoking that i am really missing.
A few weeks ago I started the C25K program and i find on my run days I feel a lot better but my rest days are proving a challenge.
Please say things get easier soon!

Well done on being smoke free for 9 days.. It is a good start.. Yes it does get easier, but not as soon as u would like it to be, n m saying this not to discourage you, but rather to help you have realistic expectations, as that will help you face situations better. Smoking becomes an integral part of our lives in ways we don't even realise, and when you quit the routine seems to take a hit and u find yourself wondering how do u do stuff without smoking. Normal ways of life seem abnormal and it feels like something is missing. This happens, but every time u fight the urge and everytime you do things (u associate with smoking) without smoking, u retrain your brain, u quite literally (yes literally) rewire ur brain. Takes time, but u learn, n there will then come a time when u wont even think of smoking. Stay strong, keep working on this, come here to vent/seek help, run, do whatever it takes and u will be rid of this habit. Cheers..
tiggs....... Nine days smoke🚭 free is brilliant 👏👏👏👏 well done you.
As quit07 says, retrain your brain and you can do this, it really is the best dicision you will ever make in your life!
Sadly, no one can tell you how long it will take to become smoke🚭free, because we are all different, but if you believe in yoursellf and what you are doing, and why you are doing it, you will eventually see the light at the end of the tunnel.
tiggs, write out a list of your personal reasons for quitting smoking, write it in thick black felt tip pen so it stands out...... pin it up somewhere in your home so you see it every day as you pass it bye, maybe do the same thing at work, your husband could do the same as you!
Talk to each about your day, support each other on your journey, its hard doing it on your own, but easier with others, thats why we are here to encourage and support you both on your respective journeys, why not get your husband to join us too..... oh! By the way.... welcome to Quit Suport, our friendly supprt community of like minded members all here to encourage and support each other on our respective Smoke🚭Free journeys, as you may have guessedl!
Hi tiggs1, Well done for your decision to quit👏 and of course for your 9️⃣smoke free days.
Welcome to Quit Support.💙
It’s never easy to quit but it’s easier with a little support.💪
When we decide to quit we have to turn our routines around a little. You mentioned coffee and a smoke in the garden when you both get home. Try to think of something else you can do together.
My favourite smoke was the one after breakfast,I'd go on the balcony and puff while I watched the traffic go by. Now,after Breakfast, I get the 2 cats and the dog out there and groom them.I love doing it,when I smoked I never had time.

May I suggest you drink plenty of water💧💦 to flush out the toxins and keep yourself hydrated.
For the record I'll put your quit date as 2nd Septemeber. If this is incorrect please let us know.
If you feel you need any more help please don’t hesitate to ask. There is always someone here.
May I remind you not to post any personal information. If in doubt, leave it out!
Hey tiggs1, well done to you. It does get easier but it could get worse before. Stopping smoking is really tough because it's highly addictive and there's the loss of this habit, which as a smoker, one invests loads of time in. You can do it and we are all here to help. It's the best decision a smoker can ever make., to quit. Good luck n sending good vibes, kind regards happybear.
You are on the uphill climb my friend. It gets better and better from here. I had to totally change my daily routine to avoid the triggers that lead us to believe we are missing something. I would have wine and cigs daily almost after work was done and kids are in bed .... had to change that. Kinda had to lay low for the first week. Binge watched TV shows, read etc, nothing that would trigger. Now I just work out and try to get exhausted in order to get the day behind me. Ive been hitting the gym hard and eating VERY clean and healthy in an effort to detox and just feel better.
