As the title states it’s been 7 months yet I still get winded even talking. I’m a postman and walk everyday yet not without difficulty breathing. I have had a EKG, Chest XRay, Blood work, Pulmonary test, Echocardiogram, all came back normal. I don’t understand why my breath is so short. No signs of any diseases and not feeling anxiety at all. I’m 49 yes old smoked a pack a day for over 30 years.

Hello Postie and welcome...aaahhhh yes SOB a symptom of quitting smoking which even after 9 months I occasionally still get. The good thing is you have had all the tests which are telling you that you are fine, which is damn good news.
Have a look at our pinned posts which will either be to the right or at the bottom of the screen depending on the device you are using for useful tips and advice with regard to breathing and I'm sure other members will be along shortly to share their experiences.
If you could let us have your exact quit date, we can arrange to assign you with a shiny progress badge at the side of your name.xxx
Hello and welcome to Quit Support postman, First of all well done on your 7 months quit.
Unfortunately many ex smokers who have smoked for a long period develop c.o.p.d. This always sounds worse than what it is in many cases. It affects your airways and arteries.
Doctors say that most ex smokers suffer with this is some form. Sometimes it is severe , but usually mild. All your tests have shown your lungs and heart are fine. I would advise you to see your doctor or nurse and ask for a nebuliser to help your breathing. You can get one which only helps open the airways. My husband was similar to you, and he now uses a blue inhaler when he is going for a long walk or up a hill. His tests were all fine, but the doctor did explain most ex smokers get out of breath.
