I've had a on going battle of quitting smoking for the last 5 years. I find using the Niquitin I don't smoke but pop 20+ of them in a day.
I did have great success with Champix but my Doctor won't prescribe them to me due to my recurrent depression, which is rather annoying as I've had great success with this in the past.
I work for myself (A Ebay / Amazon business) so I work from home which doesn't really help as I can smoke as much as I like (Around 30 a day). I've been making progress and cut that down to 15 and have been trying to lower the count but keep bumping from that 10 to 15 depending on stress levels.
I guess what I'm trying to ask, what worked for you? Any tips?
Thank you in advance!

Hi Joey awesome (love the name) ... I found you have to want to quit, really want it. Then I found ice cream helped the first two weeks. Also e-cig had been a huge help for those cravings. I also used patches the first two weeks. If it gets bad, get up and move, go for a walk. Remember the thought to have a cigarette will pass. This morning I had more coffee than normal and thought about having a smoke but then thought "oh hey, I don't smoke" and it did pass. Do what ever helps you. Good luck!
Your very right, When I quit last time I found new love with Hargan Darz. I've got a E cig that I never used but got fed up with it as It's one of those tank ones and you have to changed the coils and then they leak. But I'm gonna give it another go!
Ill get some coils and try the patches as the Niquitin I just start pill popping.
Ok... seriously now.... have you tried patches? Or gum? Or... my personal favourite... vaping? By the sound of it, cold turkey may be a tad too much for you.
There is lots of ways to Quit, and each and everyone's journey is unique. If you have a look at the pinned post there will be tons of info about all the different ways to Quit, and I'm sure our lovely members on here will be in touch with some more advice for you.
Whatever you decide to use, keep us close to hand as we'll help you all the way.
One bit of advice, if you've never used an e-cig, go to a dedicated shop for advice on which one to buy..... I found having the right e cig or 'mod' makes all the difference in the 'vaping experience ' as does what type and strength of juice .... look at me using buzz words and everything 😂😂 seriously, don't just get one from your nearest supermarket, get advice 👍 If it helps, I use an Aspire Plato, using 50/50 juice (sherbert fizz) down to 6mg now.
I have a Innokin Cool Fire IV Plus with iSub G which is one of those tank type things, I need to get new coils or whatever they need as I used it and I know you have to replace them but haven't bothered. Going to get some.
One of the hardest things is finding the right strength as I always found them to either be too strong or too weak. Could I ask what strength did you start at?
I started with 12mg because I found 18mg too strong, I was only using 12 for a little while, I didn't like the 'throat hit' so I'm settled on 6mg. I have a spare 12mg and a 0 so I can up or down it a bit whenever I feel the need. It really is a trial and error. As you can only buy 10 ml bottles now (are you in the UK?) It might be an idea to buy 2 or 3 different strengths, buy a 0 nicotine as well so if you don't get on with the higher strength you can water it down wi the 0.
OMG.... vaping is turning us all into mad chemistry scientists 😜🤓😜🤓 xxx
OMG! What a good idea with the 0% Strength to be a crazy scientist!
I think I know what I need to do, go internet shopping, I'm in the UK and I heard about this as I know one of a friend of a friend told me they changed the regulations with the the packaging regulations.
Right off I go to search for coils? As mine leaks and e cig liquids!
Well done for cutting down. That's a real move in the right direction. What I'm doing is taking advice and help from NHS. It kind of makes it real. Best of luck.
Hello Joey, You have had a lot of good advice already. If you look on the pinned posts there is a section on nicotine replacement. I must agree with the others vaping sounds like that might work for you. The main thing is to really want to quit, find a product your happy with, set a date , get rid of any smoking related items so there is no temptation. Try changing your routine if possible. Once your ready keep us informed and we will be there to support you. xx
Thank you for letting me know. I'll take a look as I didn't see them. I'll take alook now.
Your absolutely right it is, and I think I'm very much a in between as one week I'm like right have to give this up, I'm coughing my guts out and then the other the demon of the pub kicks in.
