Hi guys! I'm 23 and I'm on 20 a day! Which is pathetic I know! I'm aiming to cut down and quit, I just need advice on the best ways to do it. I wake up in the morning breathless if I've not had a cigarette which kinda puts me off a bit, how can I get around this? Is it normal? I want to be able to walk upstairs without being knackered! Any help would be appreciated :)

Hi Denny, first of all well done on deciding to quit.

Okay first of all have a good luck under the pinned posts at the right hand side

Of the page or bottom on a mobile.

Decide if your using any form of nicotine replacement. Make a plan and get rid of all tobacco related things. i.e.

Ashtrays, lighters etc.

Lets us know when your ready.

When we have an exact date we will then add you to our database and assign you your relevant badge.

Look forward to hearing from you. ☺xx

Hi Denny, your breathless feeling you're having may happen after you've quit too, many people have experienced it. The cigarettes may be masking this feeling not helping it. Jilly has given you some very good advice. Check out the breathing exercises on the pinned posts, they can be a really great help. Set yourself a date a we'll be here to support you along with all the friendly members here.

All the best. Angie xx

Hi Denny and welcome to Quit Support😊

First of all you're NOT pathetic, you are simply addicted to nicotine. I wish I had quit when I was your age before any damage had been done. You want to quit and that's the best thing for you. We can help.

I see you've got lots of good advice from our lovely admin already. I started cutting down before I quit and each day I would have one less cig until I was only smoking 1 a day. So my advice is try cutting down now while you're planning your quit. Stay close to us as this really makes a big difference.

Because you're young your body will heal very quickly and you will honestly feel so much better. there is something added to cigs to widen your airways so the smoke can reach deep down in side your lungs😩 and thats why you feel breathless when you don't have one.

Also have to point out that your breath will be nice and fresh and your clothes won't smell and you'll have more money to spend on much better things too. That's just a few benefits but there's so many more.

Good luck, you can do it🚭👍🏼😊

Hi Denny,

I also cutdown +NRT... like skipping that most important cig of the day at first just to get the body and mind feeling of what goes on during cravings. I think it helped me be prepared for what to expect from them and convinced myself I could beat one then I could beat them all. You can do it...best to get hold of it while you are young.
