Hi everyone, I am new here so thought I would say hello to you all. I am on day 8 of quitting. It's not been too bad so far other than having the moat annoying tickley cough which is keeping me up at night. Has anyone else experienced a very annoying cough?

Hello lovemyweedog and congratulations on getting to day 8. First week done. A cough is a common side effect from stopping smoking as u clear out all the rubbish from ur lungs. I did not get this but a lot of people report it. If it continues you can check with ur gp to put ur mind at rest.

Are u using any nrt or going cold turkey? We like to know all the goss on here! Let us know if u need any help there is always someone around to help out. Have a look round the site. There are some pinned posts to the right with lots of useful info.

Welcome to the forum 😀👀🍾

Hiya love and welcome to quit support😊

Congratulations on 8 days quit, terrific👍🏼

As Andrew has said this is a common side effect but it will pass. It's very annoying at night time for you☹️ Try sipping water and honey and lemon will help a bit.

It's good news for your lovely dog as well, it's surprising the effect smokin has on our pets. Have a good look round our site as plenty of advice here for you and someone is always around if ya need anything.

Our motto is NOPE not one puff ever and this is really effective🚭

Good luck on your quit journey and keep us posted🍀

Aww thank you both for the lovely warm welcome and the helpful advice. I am quitting cold turkey. I have quit a few times but unfortunately started again so fingers crossed I can quit for good this time!

cold turkey is hard. Have u tried the Alan Carr book easy way to stop smoking. It's a good book to read.

Why do u think u started again before? (We've all tried lots of times before). I'm using patches to help could not do cold turkey 😀😀

I was going through a bit of a stressful time and my will power was weak so I just started smoking again 😞 I have tried patches previously but they made my skin itch, I also tried lozenges, gum, spray and an indicator (not all at once lol)

I do have the Alan Carr book on my kindle so I really should read it

Well done Hiro928 on quitting cold turkey. That's how I quit 5 months ago. If you can stick at it without any ecigs etc then you won't have to wean yourself off nicotine at a later stage. Take one day at a time and eventually you will start to feel much better. The cravings can come and go for a good few weeks but they do lessen. To begin with I felt like I'd lost something major, but as time passes we realise we haven't lost anything and in fact we've gained our health back. Keep up the good work and Good Luck xx

Welcome love MyWeeDog💐

I use to smoke for a month here... A month there.... Never became addicted...... Until my soul mate passed tragically ....... Before I knew it , I was a full blown pack a day smoker!!!! Couldn't believe the first month of withdrawal!!! Shocked.... I was so sick!! My support friends on this site are here for me every single day no matter what......

They taught me...... Not One Puff.... Ever!!!! No matter what !

Keep your reason close for quitting
