Hi Eileengauvin62, a big warm welcome to our lovely quit support community :) :)

Why do you say that your not doing as well as you would like :o Have you managed to quit smoking and if so, if you would be so kind as to let me know the date you quit, then I can award you with a Winners badge and add you to the Wall of Winners too :)

Pete :)

Hi Eileen,

Welcome to quit support. So is today the day? Are you prepared and ready? Have u got a quit plan? Too many questions.

If you have cut down to two a day that is really good it is worth reading Alan Carrs book easyway to stop smoking. If you google it you can download it for free, helps you prepare psychologically.

It's worth thinking about if you only smoke one or two a day then you are constantly looking forward to those cigarettes and you build them up into more than they are. But it's up to you when you feel ready.

Are you going to use any NRT? I am using patches as the main NRT and chewing gum or the inhalator for when I get cravings that has been very helpful for me.

The other helpful resource is the people on this forum we have all been through what you are about to do so you can come on here and rant, get upset or distract yourself by having a laugh. It helps.

I wish you the best of luck. Take the plunge and do it, once decided stick to it and stick to NOPE Not One Puff Ever. It's our motto and it helps.

Take care 😀

Pete ..Jan 12.. Today is the day I am quitting..no more little puffs there and here....it's been a long haul...let's I went fron a full pack a day..to 10.. 5... 3...I could make a cigarette last half any sometimes more..... I've taught myself how to swim ...keeps me focus...and reminds me how bad smoking is ...with my breathing in swimming....I'm hoping with the patch...the lowest one...that I can do better with the emotional part..I've been wearing the patch for 2 days now... Thank You and Everyone for your Support...

Well done Eileen your almost at the end of your 1st day so well done hun, I'm really proud of you 😃

The patches are great, just make sure you use a different side and different part of your body. Also always carry a spare with you and take it off about 30 mins before bed, it should help you to reduce the weird dreams you might have 😃😃

Well done and keep up the good work 😃😃😃😃

WAYYYY HAYYYYY Eileen, thats fantastic news :) :) I now have the 12th Jan 2016 down as your quit date :) :) I will nip out and catch you your first of many Winners badges :)

I see our lovely Droopy has given you some great advice about the patches :) and if I may add to it, maybe try putting the next days patch, in its wrapper, under your pillow when you go to bed, this way it will be nearer to your body temp in the morning sooooo, will start to work faster :) :)

Good luck Eileen :) :) and have a good nosey around especially at the Pinned Posts and Topics to the right of your post :) :)

Please feel free to join in on any of the posts :) and give us a shout if you need any help or having a bad day :o cos thats what this quit support community is all about, helping each other to become smokefree :) :)

A great big WELL DONE to you for teaching yourself to swim :) :) soooo, now you got to teach yourself to become smokefree :) :)

Please keep in touch and I hope to see ya soon :)

Hiya Eileen and a warm welcome to quit support😊

Wow what a fabulous picture, where is it I wonder coz I'd like to be there where the sun is shining😎

Welcome Eileen💐 What a beautiful picture!!!!!! And don't worry ... You'll connect with people on this site who understand your struggles with stopping cigarettes.... Me being one of them..... It gets easier after the physical symptoms ease up ....... Not easy for sure..... But worth it

Don't be hard on yourself---any kind of fear can drive you to smoke-Just think how close" Im not doing as well as Id like" is to "oh, the hell with it--I cant do this" and finally" Im gonna have a smoke??" It is the brain crying for nicotine and will try to trick you..-It WILL get easier and best of all you will begin to reap benefits you have forgotten exist--As much as it hurts I don't ever want to go back now--You are not alone--Time for a new and cleaner set of lungs..Chin up and straight ahead....
