Hi Susan , well done on making that decision to stop smoking. I won't lie, for some it is very easy and others it can take longer to get over the withdrawel symptoms. Have you decided to to get nicotine replacement ? This may help with symptoms.

Dealing with your lunch, I find that going for a walk or to the shops helps take my mind off the cigs. Have a read of some of the pinned posts as they are very helpful. If you feel you are struggling , tune in here as lots of people to support you. you can do it. We are all here for you :)

Hi Susan and welcome to quit support😊

I honestly think most of us were scared when thinking about quitting and wondering how we would get through without a cig☹️

It's a good idea to make a plan and decide how you are going to quit. Under pinned posts there's lots of help how to do this. As Maddy has said already going for a walk is a great idea. It's about changing your routine and avoiding those triggers. We have all been where you are now and understand how hard this can be. You can do it and we're here to help. Our mantra is NOPE not one puff ever🚭🚭🚭😊

Hi Susan ,

Congrats on your decision to quit smoking👏

If you have nicotine replacement , your withdrawals won't be as bad as going cold turkey. You'll have to adjust your lifestyle a little ie: stay away from triggers like alcohol, certain friends.... On your break at work, walk around the block instead of socializing with the group smoking.... Just little adjustments like that all help.... Eventually you will be able to be around your triggers and you won't want to light up... Write down the reason you need to quit.... Mine was stroke... Young Women in my family who smoke have strokes and now since reading so many people's problems with COPD, that is truly a concern....

You have to really want to quit

Our saying is Nope Not One Puff Ever

1 puff=1 pack

Hope you join us😊

I was the same, sometimes I only smoked to make sure I didn't get withdrawals. Its like something you're always frightened of but rarely comes. It is what keeps most people smoking so you're not alone.

You could try reading the Alan Carr book - easyway to give up smoking. This helps get your mind in the right mode for quitting. Then use some NRT, patches, gum, inhalator, micro tabs. This gives you small dose of nicotine which stops some of the cravings and you gradually reduce over time. Other tips are get support, like this forum or see a smoking cessation service. It all helps, that's how I have done it. It is still hard and you still get cravings but you can get past it and its not as bad as you fear before you quit.

Susan do not be afraid--If you fail 1st time you get up and get going again--Just truly make up your mind you are going to do this... I remember thinking about quitting and just freaking out trying to imagine no cigarettes in the house--Id walk 8 miles in a blizzard and didn't want to do that--Fear kept me smoking long after I wanted to quit.. So I kept cigarettes in a drawer and my dirty ashtray on my nightstand until 2 or 3 wks ago--then there was nothing to fear--I looked at my enemy head on and said no--and was able to not fear it--I don't recommend this for everyone but it worked for me--I still have e cig on nitestand--haven't touched it for over a week--Fear is the enemy and will keep you smoking --withdrawals aren't always pleasant but they are not continual--remember that--and as you quit you gain strength and begin to feel better and it will propel you forward--Do your best--never feel like a failure and don't let fear hold you back--Fight for your life--you matter--and please stay with us--we will be there for you--promise!! Hugs,MmeT

12 days clean. I was really scared. all my triggers are the good things I did and I rewarded myself with a smoke. I clean something I earned a smoke, took dogs for walks another reward. So now Im dealing with no rewards, and nic with drawls. Still need to do all the things I did but now no reward. It gets better each day and I am proud of myself.

Hi Crazyaces😊

12 days👏🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 That's just awesome!! I just recently lost my psychological dependence on cigarettes...... The physical addiction was gone but I believed I needed to smoke to feel better... It may not take you as long as it took me ..... I'm almost 6 months quit... I never believed it would end...... But I'm free of the dependence thank God🌷

Keep your reason for quitting written down and keep this wonderful quit support family close... There's always someone that can shed light on a bad moment or craving etc... xxxx
