Hello Tash welcome to Quit Support and well done on being quit for 8 days. Quiting is not the easiest thing to do but well worth it in the end. Yes sore gums and short temper are symptoms of withdrawal which if you persevere will eventually calm down.

Can suggest that you have a look at the pinned posts either to the right or at the bottom of your screen, There you will find lots of useful tips and information to help you in your quit.

You don't say whether you are quitting cold turkey or using NRT. If you are not using NRT you might want to consider this if the cravings and withdrawals get too bad.

Keep us close we are here to support and I am sure others will be along shortly. I will add you to our database and assign you a winners badge. I am assuming that your quit date is 4th June 2018 please let me know if this is incorrect.

Hi Tash.

Your symptoms are all part of quitting, I’ve been there.

Welcome to quit support, you have joined a community where everyone has been on the same journey that you are on.

Write down a list of why you want to quit smoking and pin it up somewhere that you can read it as you walk past it, read it daily , it may help!

We are here to help and support you Tash, so come back here as often as you like, you can shout, scream, ask for help, someone somewhere will respond..... eight days is fantastic 👏👏👏👏 well done, you can do this Tash.... good luck!

👍🌞😀🌹

have you tried the patch...it really helps me.

You can do this Tash.

I have this app called smiley mind on my phone. It has short little meditations - mostly breathing, I find it really helps me when my mind is running away and I’m ready to explode.

It will get better. Mr Nico is in the throws of dying and doesn’t like it one bit. Nico hates that your winning and will try to lure you back anyway it can.

But... you are stronger and smarter than Nico... you can do this !

Well said Nowandforever, we are stronger than we think, we just have to believe and we will succeed in letting Nasty Nic know who is the boss!

Hi - I've tried to find 'smiley mind' in search. It comes up with 'smiley minds' to click on, but then goes to an app called 'smiling mind'. The icon for this is a red square with a pale green thinking bubble, shaped like a cloud, with a red smile on it. Is this the right one? I could really use something to give me a quick 'calm down' ! Thanks for posting this.

Yes that’s the one, it really helps me.

Sometimes I use at night time.

It has heaps of different ones, lengths etc.

hold on .. like movies .. those who held till the end only saw the sun rise ..

I know what are you going through.. it’s feel like hell .. but at the end if you sit and compare rationally with the hell in which you were earlier (smoking) , when every day your body was decaying due to smoke to the hell you are in now .. this hell is much preferable as there is certainty of brighter life afterwards.. so pls hang on.

Life does become easier as you move along .

Off late I am oozing blood from my gums .. but I am happy that atleast I am now aware what damage I had done while smoking and can go and repair it .

Lastly , it’s a mind game , the Nic try to convince you that it’s not worth it ..and tries very desperately to take over you .

You say to it Shut up 🤐 and move on ..

if any one has to run away , it’s Mr Nic from your life ..

stay strong 👍

Good morning Tash☕️☕️

Are you using NRT for withdrawal symptoms or cold turkey? A lot of people use the NRT to help the agitation that comes along with quitting . If you can go 9 days without lighting up, you can go another 9 days😊. Can you take short walks when you’re feeling flustered? It really helps.

We’re here for you. Keep your reason for quitting fresh in your mind and take one day one hour at a time💐

I bought a pair of the orthofeet to wear on a tour of Italy that included walking 8-10 miles a day. I had been experiencing foot pain and plantar fasciitis. I was desperate to find a shoe that could get me through a day of walking without pain. Well I found it, the Chicane not only gives me the foot support and pain relief I needed; they are also a good looking shoe that can be paired with many different outfits. The Chicanes took me about three weeks to wear in so that they were comfortable enough to wear on a 4-8 mile walk.

Congratulations on your quit....Try to relax and every time you get upset or get a craving take slow deep breaths like 5 of them and the cravings will go away. You might want to have a sit down with the husband and kids and explain to them that you need their support and how hard this is on you, and you also don't mean to be crabby I am sure they will understand. Join a gym take a walk and drink lots of water to flush out the nicotine in your system...this support group is here for ya

8 days is amazing. I’m on day one and I just want to fast forward as I know this is the hardest bit! I’m at 15 hours and I just have to not act on impulse and slow down all my actions 😍

It’s a road I thought I would never go down as I thought I never be able to quit as I loved it so much, but I found out Accidentally that I had emphysema and that scared me enough to quit. I smoked for 37 years and very heavy, wow I’m I so glad I quit 5 mths ago and it’s getting easier, I’m still on nicotine patches but hay that doesn’t destroy my lungs.
