Hi foxyeric, welcome to the community, Are you using any form of nicotine replacement or going cold turkey? There is loads of help on here, have a browse through the different topics on the right of this page.

I am sure more members will be on here to support you. Evening time seems the busy time. Any questions please just shout for help.

Right I better find a newbie badge for you. Let me know your quit date, so we can get your up to date badge ready. :) :) :)

Enjoy your Sunday. xx

Hi Jilly, Thank you I am giving myself tomorrow as my stop date using patches mouth sprays and a little 15mg inhalator as back up. I will get a visit from stop smoking people tomorrow with the respiratory nurse. Fingers cross at the moment I am smoking 40 a day :(

xx

It is a bit daunting at first , however you are ready to take old Nic on. Remember keep busy, change your routine, drink plenty of water and have some nibbles at hand. Dont worry too much about gaining weight as you can deal with that later. Exercise is good for weight control and not smoking.

Good luck and keep us posted. :)

Hi Foxyeric, welcome to this lovely site :)

I gave up with patches and had the nicotine gum as back up, It aint easy but we are all here to give you as much support as we can :) We have all been there and once you get that 1st day out of the way, it will get easier :)

A 40 a day habit is an expensive one, so why don't you put the money in a pot and think about something you have always wanted or somewhere you have always wanted to go :) It does help if you can give yourself a treat at the end of the 1st week :)

Good ideas droopyj, It was my birthday yesterday What I plan to do is first change my morning routine stop having a cig in the middle of the night. At the moment I only smoke in one room as funny I hate the smell of smoke lol.

For the money I think I will save about 4.000 a year thats a fantastic holiday by any means. Thanks for the support I feel that I am not alone with this war

deal noonie69

My last cig will be at 9pm tonight and will put a patch on at 00.00 before sleeping. Funny when I am in hospital I never think of smoking. I always think of the Song by the editors 'smokers who smoke outside hospital doors' lol

in reply tofoxyeric

Well done you for having a plan of action, yeah it's all about where u are & routine, I don't smoke in the car when I'm with my son & can go out all day with him & not smoke, should get out more I suppose :)

Wishing you all the best for tomoz

Hi ya Noonie its flippin great to see you back gal :) and going for it again, I just cant fault you one little bit :) cos I know this is what you want, thats to be smokefree :) :)

Thats a great idea of your's to partner up with Eric and quit together :) just love it Noonie :) :)

Hey, I hope you have a plan in operation for your quit tomorrow :o and are you going to be using any form of NRT to help you ?

Good luck for tomorrow Noonie and we're with you all the way gal :) :)

I think it's a brill idea someone said to me if you fail once or twice don't beat yourself up just say to yourself a little mistake that can be repaired lol :)

Eric, we call it a practice run :) and you know that practice makes perfect :) :)

foxyeric profile image
foxyeric in reply tomonky

Yes :) and I am doing it with another person that's also important for us both. :)

Aup Eric its great to see you here pal :) and a big warm welcome to our lovely quit community :)

I see you've had loads a great advice already and Noonie is going to partner you on your quit tomorrow, that is just fantastic news :) cos if there is two of you, then you can compare notes, plus, you dont want to let eachother down :) Thats just ACE and good luck to both of you :) :)

Rite, NRT, Eric you say your using the patches, seeing as you are going to put one on tonight, I suspect you have the 24hour patches to which you wear it for 24hours :) but some of us find that we cant sleep with the patch on in bed :o If you find this is the case, please get back to us and we will help you to find another way :)

Mouth spray :o you are supposed to spray it towards the back of your mouth, well, if your like me, that gave me hiccups and more hiccups :o sooooo, try pulling one side of your cheek out with a finger and sort of spray the mist to the inside of that cheek which you have pulled out :) this may prevent you getting hiccups :) if not, then spray a bit on a finger and gently rub it on your top gums, but very gently :)

Inhalator :o this is very good too :) but please dont just puff at it like you would a ciggie :o cos to get the full advantage of it, you have to put it to you lips with the mouth piece sort of pointing upwards, so that when you give it little sucks at a time the nicotine will go strait to your top gums and will like the mouth spray, give you almost instant relief and last longer tooo :)

Good look Eric :) just you remember NOPE, not one puff ever, stay focused and positive on your quit and you wont go wrong :) Eric, if you need any help what so ever, you come a shouting pal and we will help you :) :)

Pete :)

Good thing you are thinking about quitting to smoke. Yes, it will do you no good because it it will ruin your health and life in the long run. There are variety of ways nowadays to stop smoking so you don't have to worry much. Though it's not easy to quit this habit, you will surely get rid of it in the process. One you can try is a medical procedure in which can lessen your cravings for smoking. Then, if it's giving you a hard time, you can try e-cig for the meantime. Most smokers today chose to switch because it will not cause trouble to their health.
