hi, I am Linda, I am 63 and have been smoking since I was 18. I have an incurable illness called PBC and I collect 1960s dolls, Sindy, Barbie, Tressy and Petra. I also knit Sindy dolls clothes to keep me occupied when i have a " I want a cigarette attack "
Hi Linda wow that sounds like an awesome hobby. I am still at the stage that when I need a smoke I have a nap lol!!! But thinking if giving cross stitch a go x
Hi Pinkie, I tried cross stitch and tapestry, one looked like a screwed up mess and the tapestry was bald in places.
Hi Alison, Linda & everyone else, I'm Kate & I live in NSW, Australia. I've been a serious smoker for 48 years & had my last cigarette Nov 18. I'm going home to Scotland in April for my first visit in 30 years & I didn't want to waste my precious holiday time constantly worrying about where I could have the next cigarette, so I stopped Nov 18 and have just about recovered the cost of my airfare already. Only one more carton to not smoke & it'll be paid back in full! Makes you think doesn't it, what on earth was I doing? Have a good day everyone. Sleep time for me. xx
Hey Kate, well done Hun that's a fair few months under your belt now can't wait to say I stopped smoking last year which you can officially say :). Ooh I have lived in Scotland for half my life, where is it you are visiting? Its so beautiful up there I class myself as Cumbrian as have lived in Carlisle 6 miles from Scottish border for the rest of my life time. It's lovely to meet you by the way can't wait to see some new faces and gossip and advice on here. It's great that us new folk can feel like we ain't on our own can't believe how much you have saved, like you say.... Puts it in perspective huh!!! Ok sleep well will pop back later to catch up again x
Nice to meet you too, Alison. I hadn't thought about the "last year" angle, that makes it sound longer than it actually is. Good one. I'm visiting family in Glasgow then we're motoring north with no real plans. Hope the weather has picked up by then. Whereabouts in Scotland did you live? This time I really am going to sleep x
Hi Kate hopefully you will pick this up in the morning and are now in the land of nod :). I have lived in Ayr, culzean and Stranraer. Went to boarding school in Moffat too! Oh and I have spent time on benbecula, very remote and beautiful island in the outer Hebrides. Your family must be pretty excited to see you after all this time. X
Wow, you have lived in more of Scotland than I have! I have cousins in Ayr so I will be visiting there this time. The family are all very welcoming & more than one reunion is planned, I just hope we all recognise each other 30 yrs on! I've had a few OMG moments already, just looking at photos & I'm sure that they're doing the same with me. Hope I can act with more decorum on the day lol. At least I won't have to worry if any of them disapprove of my smoking!
Hey Kate, is it morning for you already??? Yeah will be some catching up to do for you and your family. It's a pretty exciting time for you all. And yes at least when you grab them to hug them you won't smell like an ashtray x
Linda,I'd forgotten about Tressy tho I do remember being desperate for one when I was young.Am I right in remembering that she was the one with the key in her back to make her hair grow? I'd never thought of knitting to keep me busy tho the last time I tried my knitting was like your tapestry, bald in places !!LOL : ) H x Hello Al,hope all is well. H
