Hi all. I;m new here today. On a whim I stopped buying cigs a week ago and started vaping.I am classing this as my first step to being smoke free if that makes sense.

What are your thoughts on e cigs?

Hi Annrich, welcome to Quit Support :-)

Congratulations on making a huge step forward to living a smokefree lifestyle, I'm sure that given time you will be completely free from vaping too. We're here to support you to do this all in your own time and in your own way :-)

With regards to thoughts on e-cigs - Although we can't actually promote the safe use of e-cigarettes, (as they have not yet been regulated) there are many people who have successfully stopped smoking through using these first. As long as you are using them as a stopping smoking aid rather than as an alternative to smoking, then we'll help you as much as we can :-)

Let me know your quit date and I'll pop you up on our Wall of Winners - the place where every quitter is a winner :-)

Hi Jules thanks for the support. Are you still on the ecig and does it contain nicotine. Mine does at the moment but hoping to ween down to zero in time. Dieting as well at the mo so it's a double whammy, but I am getting strength from somewhere...just hope my mind can keep focussed! Best of luck . Ann xx

hi anne

yes mine has nicotine. but nicotine not the bad stuff. yes its adictive but its not harmfull. so i just keep going. will try and go weaker at somepoint but not in a hurry. good luck with it and dieting. you truly are a star

There the best thing since sliced bread, if they work for you then keep using and enjoying. At least you haven,t got nicotine being pumped into your system all the time like Patches do and you can Vape without nicotine if you wish.

Hi Annrich,

Good luck with your vaping, I too am on the vapour method, and although not actually started to stop smoking in full, it has made me cut down from 20 a day to 5!!! I have a few duty frees to use up before I quit totally, but I am so impressed by the vaping.Like you i bought it on a whim really, thought i would give it a go and stop when my duty frees run out!.

I am using a pipe style vaping system which uses the liquid so my plan is to get smoke free, and then reduce my nicotine in my liquids until I am also nicotine free. :)

Stay strong and keep me updated on how you are going, as i am a little behind you on this path to freedom, oh and lots more money wooohoooo!!!!

Hi

As a fellow vaper i am just wondering how you are getting on with it?

Have you completely stopped smoking, and just using the vape? at the moment i am cutting back but using the vape has made me not really even think about the real smokes!

Hi there hope you're ok. I'm just vaping....haven't had a cig since I started this a week last Sat.

However I cant say I'm not missing the fags! I think it's the smell of the smoke in my face that I'm missing which is nuts I know but there you go.Can't say I'm moody or anything but I am having a lot of trouble with my conentration,as I work in a bank this isn't good!!! But I am determined to persevere with this.I have set up a weekly standing order to my savings account of £25 as a token amount I would have spent on cigs.I'm sure I'll feel better when that starts building up!And I love coming home without noticing a smell in the air were I've been smoking in the lounge when my husbans out!!

Good Luck Pinky xx

Hey Ann

Well done girl, sounds like the vaping is working for you. I cant wait to get rid of the smell, i spend a fortune on perfume, and think whats the point, as i just reek of smoke lol!!

I have a jar ready to be filled with the 10 quid a day i would spend of fags, i just have to not turn my addiction to fags into an addiction for shoes lol!

Stay strong sounds like you have done so well already x

Hey Anne how is it going Hun? I am nearly a month in now and managing ok. Hoping your a managing ok too x

Hi Ann

I did something similar a few weeks ago for a week and then went cold turkey on the 4 January after reading Allen Carr's book. Brilliant book which persuaded me after 42 years of smoking. I am on day 19 and it is getting easier. The cravings only last for a couple of minutes. I am watching what I eat by using My Fitness Pal and have managed to keep it stable. Got a lot of wind though! Go for it.....the vaping is better than smoking but does keep you hooked.

I too quit cold turkey on 18 th Nov having finished Allen Carr's book the evening before. I don't know why it worked, I didn't expect it to work, but it did. Day 68 today. One day at a time!

Hello,

I am new here too, just joined about 5 minutes ago. I quit a week ago today after smoking 20 a day for about 29 years!! I bought a vype e-cig and to be honest i have used it maybe twice a day, just when things get really tough, I think knowing I have it is more of a safety net than using it and I have been trying to find out the true benefits of using it as it still contains nicotine...so are you really quiting:)
