Yes congrats everyone. I wonder if Bridget Jones has stopped smoking now. Wooooooo best news I've had all week, I never knew anything about it til today's Sunday papers I was reading in Asda. New Bridget Jones book - mad about the boy. Soooo excited, she's 51 now and a single mum. Its my birthday soon, need to head over to facebook to hint how much I would love the new book.
Aup Sinfree, I am sure somebody will by you that book for your Birthday gal Hmmmm just wondering how your knees are today
Divid the chimney a massive well done to you for getting to a whole Month quit pal and like you say, things start to get easier for you now, but, please keep focused and positive eh
Speak soon, Pete
Hya Pete. My knees are much better today thank you. Just waiting for the little people to arrive. Not seen my grandchildren since last Monday. No cycling today, beautiful sunny day but that wind is a bit chilly.
Bit quiet on here today. I'm sure everyone's enjoying a nice Sunday with their families.
David, well done on getting that first month under your belt. I bet you're glad you've got a month's head start over all those Stoptober people - keep up the good work.
Sin, how come your knees always play you up? Maybe you need to do a bit of cross training to strengthen them up - squats, for example.
Hi andi, I dunno what's wrong with my knees, I'm thinking they might need replacing at some point in the future cos something's not right. I can't walk up hills properly any more, I can't kneel on my knees, that would really hurt, even when I wear straight leg jeans or tight jeggins my knees start hurting by the end of the day. It's the stupid hills that start them off on my bike, those last few miles yesterday were a nightmare. I'm ok when I'm riding it's when I stop and have to start off again and the stupid chain kept coming off AGAIN despite the thing supposedly being fixed. Squats and cross trainer would probs just about finish me off I think.
Bleugh, I've just been reading about osteoarthritis of the knee joint. It said symptoms are knee pain, stiffness (I don't have that yet) grating when moving the knee. So I bent and straightened my knee to see if it grated and I could hear a rustling noise. Now it's quite difficult to straighten your leg while sat on the sofa and bending over to listen at the same time but yuk, the rustling noise is coming from my actual knee
Hi everyone , sneaked on to my daughters p.c. so brief chat. Well done sue on 1 year. I see jonathan is defo like the rest of us talking to himself last night. Pete love the sleepy sunday picture. Sin, bet the new book is a good one , must ask santa for that. Andi hope your having a lovely easy sunday. Just been outwith my brother, so thats
Hi Jillygirl, can't wait to read the book. Kindle version is a teeny bit pricey at £8 odd though
I need to diet too Jilly, I go out, burn lots of calories, then come home and eat them all Last night after Bacon, Egg, Chips and Sausage for tea, later on I had a piece of blackcurrant cheesecake with a big dollop of fresh cream - ooooh naughty but very, very nice. Glad you've had a nice day.
Well the lozenge addiction is getting ridiculous now. One after another, after another. Yesterday when out on my bike I didn't take them with me purposely. I took my e-cig but not my lozenges. I didn't realise we were going to be out quite so long. From 1.30pm and didn't get home til going on for 6. By 5.00pm I had really had enough and was getting very stressed and stroppy without my lozenges. Don't know what I'm gonna do. Got to go to dentist very soon as I've had a reminder. Struggling with that one too. I know my gums have gone worse since January. I know I have been looking after them so well with cleaning, inter dental brushes, mouth wash, there's nothing more I can do. Yet I know when I go, the dentist will be brutal and will tell me in an accusatory way that they've got worse. I have stopped smoking and put myself through all this hell purely to save my teeth, if he's not nice to me I am really going to struggle to keep my mouth shut, but if I don't, I won't have a dentist at all. This is why I don't want to go, cos I know he's really going to annoy me, let alone alarm me. I can't get another dentist, they're really hard to come by round here, well they are everywhere really.
Hi Sin. I was talking about cross training not a cross trainer. I was thinking about trying to build up the muscles around the knees to take the pressure off the bones. Weight bearing exercises also helps to build up the bone mass and it's never too late to start. I've always been careful what I do to my knees - seen too many people restricted with what they can do cos they've worn out and they're too precious to me. They do make the odd noise now and again though.
Re your dentist, I got so fed up with the NHS ones taking my money and not really giving me anything for it since 2008 that I finally went private last year. He's lovely and English and when he cleans your teeth, the machine he uses is ultrasonic and it doesn't hurt. It's just a small thing you can do with the money you're saving from buying those fags. It's definitely worth it.
Hya. Oh I mis read it, I though you meant a cross trainer. Did actually used to like it on one of those but not been to a gym for years. Come to think of it I think that used to hurt my knees too. What's cross training? I keep thinking about going to a private dentist I must admit. NHS ones seem to be next to useless now. I don't mind the waterjet thing, though the way my teeth feel at the moment I think the water might blast them clean out The private dentist where I go was really nice. I saw him in December last year when I was desperate and stood at reception in tears. Mind you that was the same time as I had fell off my bike and had a bruised rib too so was not feeling at my best. The receptionist offered me an appointment with him for a second opinion. He's the one that put a coating on my teeth to stop the sensitivity. My NHS dentist just gave me a tube of toothpaste and said it was made from the same stuff. But if I went private then a hygienist would have to do the cleaning and they are seriously scary people doing the job at seriously scary prices!
The last NHS dentist I went to said he wouldn't clean my teeth because I smoked! I was not going to be ripped off any longer hence I changed. My dentist does it all himself so maybe you could find one like that - all included in the checkup price ( a tad more than the NHS ).
Sorry I disappeared I was googling. Yes I did, they "fixed" it and sent it back on Friday. So now am going to have to get into dispute with them now over not fit for purpose and all that, grrr. Good thinking on my part that I paid with a credit card so if push comes to shove I'll just complain to credit card company.
Hey Sinfree, why dont you just tell your dentist that you have quit smoking now, BUT you dont think your teeth and gums are getting any better, and has he got any suggestions !!
That way your in control, you are asking him, he is not telling you erm, if you see what I mean
Did I tell you I planted a tree last week? I tried a bit of weeding the other day. I've got a low boredom threshhold and had enough of that after about half an hour.

Hmmmm a low boredom threshold eh well, all you have to do is 20 mins weeding, then you wont get bored will you
I see you were on lastnight, late late flippin shift or what ?? sorry pal, I had already gone to nodd land then you stay with it now, cos its 2 flippin months now yippeeeeee flippinnnnn doooooooooooooo just ACE pal, cant fault you one little bit
You keep focused and positive, cos I know your a winner
Now you're just showing your age. The wombles tsk I don't watch anything much really, coronation street but that's got quite boring this last year or so. I like Doc Martin and that's about it really. I'm always on the internet.
Hey Sinfree, I must admit, I like watching Doc Martin too its one of the few programs I watch. I'm thinking, there must be somebody like him in real life eh
I like it. I don't seem to have much time to watch in the evenings now as I'm tooooo distracted with being on here. I record everything and try to catch up at other times. No wonder I never get anything done. (that's what quitting smoking does for you!)

Ahhhhh thats why a Womans work is never done then !!
Well I'm going soon to read my new book. Did I ever say I finished my book about the Lands end to John O'Groats bike ride thing. Now I'm reading Hand in the Till by Gerald Hansen. It's a black comedy based in Northern Ireland about the Flood family. I suppose it's a little bit like the program Shameless, though I have only ever seen that a very few times quite a few years ago. It's the second in a trilogy. The language might cause offence to some but it is funny. The first one An Embarrassment of Riches was very good.
