Does anyone else take flax seed oil regularly? I can’t take fish oil so take Flax seed oil capsules for Omega3. I have since heard that it’s not good to take them whilst taking steroids but cant find much about it on Mr Google so am presuming it’s no big deal. I dont take them till lunchtime with when I take my Calcium and Vitamin d3 so there are several hours between steroids and FSO.

Flax seed oil
Is that based on the eHealthme Phase 4 studies info? I'm very sceptical about them - it is just patients reporting anything and everything they have noticed ...
Why don’t you just get flax seed oil from your local supermarket and use it for cooking?
I have 1 tbsp in my smoothie every morning and have been doing so for the past 3 years.
Two things about the amazing flax seed. 1. The oil should not be used for cooking. Only use cold - never heat it. 2. Whole seeds need to be ground before eating them preferably just before. Otherwise the hull will pass through your body whole and you miss out on the nutrition.
I’ve taken fresh bottled fflax seed oil (approx 20 mls a day) & ground flax seeds (approx 10g a day) the whole way through my PMR journey - just over 3 years now and (hopefully on the home straight) because it’s part of the Overcoming MS diet that I follow for MS. Thankfully it appears to be working - I’ve actually been on that diet for about 9 years now & my personal opinion is that it’s helped ease my PMR path a bit - although that’s just my subjective opinion 😊
My MS neurologist has admitted that he’s surprised by how well I’m doing, with the MS but still hasn’t totally conceded it’s the diet 🙄 although he does always say ‘keep doing what you’re doing’ when I’m leaving. But a caveat, someone on here said cook with it - please don’t!! It becomes rancid really quickly as the omega 3 is so delicate. Heat and light are really bad for it. It’s best to store the bottle in the fridge or at tve least, a cool dark place. It’s not cheap but I buy mine direct from Flaxfarms - freshly cold pressed - and store spare bottles in the freezer until opened. Supermarket bottles have been on the shelf - usually top shelf 🙄 in constant light and apart from not being fresh, they don’t taste very nice. Some health food shops keep them in the fridge though -
I had a discussion with my GP yesterday about supplements.
As I expected, nothing ground breaking, but the bottom line is that if your blood test does not show any particular deficiency the supplements will simply be flushed down the toilet, they are not needed or useful.
The marketing machine pushing supplements is insane, but your blood test should be your credible reference, nothing else really.
