Hi All , I did some research into CBD oil and it sounded like the PMR suffer’s holy grail , but then I read that CBD and steroids in general can have very bad side effects . I purchased some but am now sitting here thinking should I or shouldn’t I . I know longer have a Rheumy my GP is my only point of contact medically and you fine people of course . So question is has anyone tried it , good or bad reactions , advised not to take it etc , i am on 4mg of pred at the moment so quite a low dose , any help in this subject would be greatly appreciated 👍

I am on 7mg pred and took "Superstrength" cbd capsules - no effect, good or bad!

I bought a £70 tiny bottle of it too. No effect whatsoever. A waste of money.

As I said in the other thread, judging by this

naturalwellnesscbdoil.com/u...

it should be OK - but the warning concerns medications which are metabolised in the liver and prednisone is one. Prednisolone (as used in the UK) is not. What appears to happen is that CBD oil MIGHT (not specifically mentioned) slow down the metabolism of prednisone in the liver and that might make the effect stronger. Which would be a steroid sparing effect - you would get more effect for the same dose. However - that also applies to side effects and if you had any they too might be made more pronounced.

But I suppose - all you could do is try it.

I'm taking CBD oil and weaning myself off prednisone. I was at 14 mg of prednisone, now down too 10 mg in a month. I use 10 drops of CBD oil 5 in AM and 5in PM . This is working out great for me.

I bet that is expensive ? As a small bottle can be at least £70 ?

I did start the CBD and THC marijuana program. I also take steroids and at this point on six. I have had no side effects and everyone says no problem putting them together. CBD is keeping me on a lower dose of prednisone then I could have gotten on before. Just make sure it's okay for you personally. Wishing everybody a better day tomorrow.

Thanks for the reply, we seem to have a mixed bag of opinions favouring the waste of time using it at the moment , I started it at the weekend , I have a 2 month supply will post after that with my own personal experience of it .

👍😀

hi Gaz. Hope you're well: so, three months on, how do you rate the cbd oil?

I felt the CBD oil was doing me more harm than good started aching again and stomach aches , stopped taking it and really concentrated on my diet and feel the best I have for a long time . Really strict gluten free, no alcohol , 3 meals a day no cheating , I have lost 6kg in 4 weeks without even trying

My concern is taking anything other than prednisone might just cover up the symptoms. Because the symptoms are the best way to monitor if you're taking enough prednisone (e.g.treating the disease), then I would be cautious about taking CBD. I tried it for a day and felt a bit mellower but also got extremely cold hands and feet - makes no sense.

If you have no symptoms - you know the inflammation is under control. It doesn't matter how really and there are clinical studies looking at the antiinflammatory effect of CBD oil. After all - you could say that pred "masks the symptoms", even Actemra being used as a steroid sparer only masks the symptoms,
