Hi all i have been on my journey for 21/2 years not doing too bad a few ups and downs. I'm now on 61/2mg of prednisone and not doing too bad but after 20 minutes of doing anything I'm worn out and need too rest suppose it could be my adrenalin. I take calcium and vit d plus extra vitamin d has my last blood test was border line. I see people mentioning vitamins on here and just wondered if there was anything I could take to help me

I have only seen a rheumatologist when I was first diagnosed and have more or less managed my PMR on my own. I read the questions every morning with my breakfast and get a lot of info from there it is my go to place for advice. Thanks in advance for any help

Having been through the deathly adrenal fatigue I did not find anything that really helped, I just gave into it and rested. I must admit I did go up a mg in exasperation at one point.

Like you I am down to 6 ½mg - resting when getting fatigued still seems to be the best way to go. But it's good to be able to do things, if only for shorter spells than one would like isn't it.

It sounds like your adrenal glands haven’t got used to working yet. Sometimes they don’t fully until you have got lower, but don’t hurry to get there. You have to pace yourself even more and they will get going in their own sweet time. I highly recommend reading DL’s piece from the FAQ’s herehealthunlocked.com/pmrgcauk...

I agree with what others have said, I had the same around 4/5mgm, all you can do is rest and wait it out patiently. I find as time passes and the adrenals begin to work better i can make progress again. I’m now on 2/2.5, I do get tired but not the horrible fatigue😕 I still have to pace myself though. Not sure anything else will help really, just time.

I too managed to get down to 6.5mg a while back, then GCA symptoms appeared, so back up and still using the Dead Slow and almost stop method. Everything settled down and currently on 9mg and 8mg but not alternate days....more 9 than 8 at the moment. On Pred for 2 years this December and dreaded running into a third year, but it will happen.

SnazzyD has kindly posted my link re adrenals. She had a pretty torrid time waiting for adrenals to get going again. I found between 6mg dose to 3mg I got random bouts of fatigue, but just kept reducing very slowly taking about 8-9 months to get down those 3mg.Really it is more about reducing slowly and pacing yourself although you can help a little with adjusting diet…the second link in post referred to gives some ideas.

My GP put me on DHEA 7mg/day because adrenals are not productive under prednisolone as lab.results showed. Rheumy approved it and added it in my medical file. I have less problems with fatigue now. I am on pred.3mg/day except on wednesdays and Sunday, then 2 mg/day.

DHEA is dehydroepiandrosterone = endogenous steroid hormone precursor.

I bought a perching stool for the kitchen - it helped.
