I feel like I am going around in circles. Prolapse- pessary working well-laxatived working well I THINK! - then bad tummy needing to go lots - 3 days later constipated around and prolapse really hurting due to straining with diahorrea.
Has anyone taken HRT to help with the whole thing and does it work as they say prolapse is linked to menopause.
TIA

Sometimes the laxatives can make u one min diarrhoea the next constipation, I found that with cosmocol I try natural things now like chia seeds and flax seeds with cherry juice or prune juice. I have a prolapse and on list for surgery but it’s a year wait at the mo. x
Yes I take Hrt both systemic and locally . Menopause can lead to constipation and loss of oestrogen can result in prolapse . Your drs should go through this with you see what’s b st for you

Prolapse is link to a poor pelvic floor which as you go through meno u lack estrogen and That's why your pelvic floor becomes weak hrt gives you the estrogen back to strengthen it which helps also I bought a kegal 8 pelvic floor exerciser it was a god send it worked for 10 yrs along with hrt and vitimins e.g collegan vit d I have just had a pelvic operation as I had to come off hrt and my prolspse got worse so no option but it saved me having the op 10 yrs ago I def recommend hrt and kegal 8 and vits they were a godsend xx
Yes, I was told that having two babies and going through menopause caused my prolapse, which became stage 4 and was surgically repaired in January 2022. I still have a stage 1-2 anterior prolapse, but I've overcome all incontinence issues through physical therapy. I'm using estrogen cream right now, and it helps with dryness. I'm also using a Perifit to strengthen my pelvic floor muscles. I agree that laxatives can cause problems, and I've found that upping my fiber intake to nearly 30 grams really helps I add flaxseed to everything! I also eat an apple a day (with peel), a salad, and keep dried prunes on hand. Psyllium is also a great source of fiber.
