Hi recently diagnosed with a bladder prolapse. Having various urine symptoms, on and off uti, nausea, tiredness, stomach pain etc.
What exercises are best? GP advised exercises and losing weight I have two stone to lose. But how can I lose weight when I have been told to quit the gym , quit aerobic dance exercises basically the exercises that have helped me lose two stone ,how will I lose my next two stone ??
I have been at the gym since April and that’s when the urine issues started could weight lifting after no weight lifting for years have caused it as well as daily aerobic dance exercises?
Can I do all types of yoga with this prolapse ? What’s the furthest you can walk?
7 yrs ago I had a womb prolapse while pregnant with my son which was hanging out. But luckily after birth it resolved itself and no surgery needed.
In panic as I need to lose the weight went from 10 to 18 after grieving binge eating for two years from multiple family losses. So want to get back to me again but feel now I have this I’m heading back to size 18 currently got to 14.
Any advice would be great thank you
What exercises shouldnt I do as online it looks like nothing other than walking and yoga 🧘♀️

Hi swimming is good and walking. I have just had surgery, in March to repair and it’s been great ever since although must never lift anything over 5kg. Sometimes walking got a bit sore on a bad day but a few short walks helped the mental health too. Good luck. Another thing is tell yourself the fatty foods and chocolate etc are poison 😵🤣 dark chocolate is ok in small proportions but must be over 70% preferably 80%. X
thank you sorry to hear you had to have surgery . Is that for the rest of your life never life over 5kg ? I’m thinking maybe the gym caused it haven’t lifted weights for years then for 4 months went straight to gym 3-4 times a week lifting heavy weights. I have to walk y dogs daily at the mo no pain walking. Did you try yoga ? Thank you
Hi yeah that’s forever unfortunately or it can prolapse again. Yoga isn’t something I have tried. I like swimming and walking tho. Just time to myself with the wildlife. I have a big lake by me and like to walk around it. I was so scared of surgery and panicked for the whole year on the waiting list but it was ok in the end. Stayed in one night and rested up for 3 weeks. A ring could be fitted to help but because I’ve had a hysterectomy it wouldn’t sit right so surgery was the only option. All good now tho. X
o gosh 5kg is hardly any weight . Are you still unable to do more high Impact exe4cise after surgery?
I have just been told to read a nhs post about it , kegel exercises and life changes. Can it resolve by itself ? The womb prolapse I had did after giving birth but obv bladder prolapse will strengthening exercises stop the symptoms or is a ring and surgery only options ? Worst things are stomach ache, weeping lots and not being able to hold it and tiredness. I can handle the dropping feeling . But just scared to do a lot of other things now incase it drops further. Already have anxiety from my endometriosis, pfo and asthma. My stomach is sooo bloated and uti is clear now.
hello..yes yoga is wonderful I had the corrective surgery for bladder repair I no longer have the feeling of my insides falling out I was hardly able to walk..get yourself a uro gynecologist and see what they suggest…I have had no uti’s since the correction…I have suffered some nerve damage but treat that naturally doing yoga relives a lot of pressure you may have swimming is also very good….even though my corrective surgery has left me with a nerve issue..li would have it again I could not live with the prolapse..I use a yoga dvd by Dustine Miller “Your pace yoga” Reliving pelvic pain…and or find yourself an instructor that specializes in prolapse for safe exercise..good luck
Well good luck..but it was my experience all the therapy and exercise wouldn’t cure it ..in time it would only get worse..I would find a uro gynecologist just to get an opion
gosh that’s so bad I didn’t know it could worsen to not being able to walk. Does this happen to everyone then surgery or Can I strengthen it again and it goes back up like the womb prolapse did ? How often and how long would you suggest doing yoga and can I only do prolapse aimed ones? How often would you swim ? I’m really paranoid of it getting worse I just thought I was having a bad patch of uti issues. Thank you
I have heard the sooner it’s repaired the easier the surgery. I didn’t go swimming regularly before only after surgery. You should ask about the pessary ring, helps some people. I’m glad I’ve had the surgery tho. Also a radar key from bladder and bowel community for £5 is brilliant x
I would recommend joining the Facebook group FPOPS UK. Lots of people on there know all about exercise. I think hypopressives are probably the best exercises for anyone with a prolapse.
I had bladder surgery ( anterior and posterior repair) earlier this year and things have been so much better. Prior to surgery I did pelvic floor exercises and had oestrogen pessaries which helped erase the uti’s and helped with the dragging feeling. I couldn’t be bothered with trying the pessaries I just wanted to get on with things.
I had to give up running ( which helped with weight loss/ maintenance and my physio recommended either cycling or swimming instead… I just walk lots and do Pilates… I miss getting a sweat on !!
Nice to hear you feel a lot better. O gosh so even after surgery people can’t do the exercise they once did before .
I’m just confused how my womb prolapse went up after giving birth aged 33 and it seems majority of people the bladder prolapse ends in surgery 😭
Think I’ll do walking and yoga . I’m an artist so hunched over anyway so regular cycling doesn’t appeal to me only now and again and swimming lengths bores me I just like to play with my kids in the pool lol.
I was really enjoying the gym and dance fitness classes was starting to feel like me again after years of grieving and binging . Feel really annoyed about it all now I need to lose this 2stone weight left I was doing so well. Always been slim so never had to lose weight before.
If I was you I'd hold of surgery please do but if yr suffering get it sorted but don't let a gynecologist do yr surgery even do a private referral to urogynecologist my prolapsed womb bladder was moderate for 5 yrs I had hysterectomy fallopian tubes and cervix removed vaginally also sacrospinous ligament fixation done and posterior repair in September 22 Then Anterior repair done 8th December 22 as surgeon never fixed prolapse said it was mild which I didn't believe he fixed mild bowel but not bladder I've gone down hill .I'm in pain since September 💔 I've just had stitch removed from sacrospinous ligament fixation as surgeon said it was entrapment in nerve I took a large hematoma from this surgery I'm currently in hospital at min..I'd take back my prolapse womb bladder tomorrow if I could Please god yr symptoms ease 🙏
O gosh I’m so so sorry to hear this that sound horrendous . I do have endometriosis also so hysterectomy one day may be needed but coil is helping me now .My dr didn’t mention surgery or pessary she said I’m not at that stage . I’m to do exercises and life style changes . Just wondering if these things can help it go up it’s not hanging out .
Im doing dr Melissa oleson yoga classes on you tube at the moment after days pain is less and in control of my bladder can laugh without leaking . Thank you
Wishing you all the best how awful for you let me know how u are x
Just be careful with exercise yoga and pilates good but always let instructor know yr prolapse I done 5 different types of ring pessary body kept rejecting them I even tried organic Sea sponge some girls found they've helped alot everyone is different..Wishing you all the best it's a awful journey ..I had adenomyosis in womb I didn't know till I get pathology tests from hysterectomy. I was using bar contraceptive so masked the adenomyosis getting no periods of only I'd of known as when you've adenomyosis it pushes uterus into pelvic floor which causes prolapse..I got diagnosed by accident constant urine infection gp sent me to urogly nurse she asked me to hop up on bed she checked down below said has nobody told you yr uterus and bladder has prolapse I went into shock first I ever heard of a prolapse. I was then referred to gynaecologist who put pessary in then advised physio which didn't improve my urine infection so that why I decided surgery..I'd take my prolapses back tomorrow for year I've just had it been a horrendous journey drs tried to fob me of but I kept advocating for myself till I got answers then when I finally got answers it was stitches caught in nerve and came into hospital 2 weeks ago to get them removed I ended up with a large hematoma which can be a complication with any pelvic surgery another shock to me been honest drs don't advise you of complications .All my gynecologist said was you'll be new woman..But definitely don't work with gynaecologist regards prolapse see urogynecologist there far more experienced..
Sending lots of love your way always remember you need to keep fighting for you ❤
Will do thanks I’m doing online ones that are for people with prolapses. Do you just get a pessary when/if it begins to stick out ? I have never hear of that illness .so sorry to hear it wasn’t straight forward for you . Wishing you all the best recovering x
Hi I haven’t been referred to any by my doc just got given a continence clinic number to call but after doing day 7 of pelvic yoga and kegels I haven’t leaked at all when laughing etc . So seems to be working .
Awww thank you yes will do after reading lots on here . If the uti stay away and no leaking and pain goes long term then I defo will ignore it . Thing is I have endometriosis so the stomach pain may be that . Womens bodies are so confusing aren’t they. Wishing u all the best on recovery and no more complications x thank you
