Every time I get a UTI I always become incredibly sick and can feel the waves of hot sweats. A bit like menopause hot sweats but not as intense. Trimethoprim is not all that effective in a lot of people and I find Nitrofurantion a lot better. I take it prophylactically now because continually was getting UTI’s. I recommend all ladies & gents suffering to use Multistix SG bought on the internet at £15 a box of strips. You can test your own urine and it helps you to look after yourself better than the GP. Also an advantage to be able to have physical evidence rather than deteriorating whilst you wait for results.
