Prolapse

Hi have been interested in advice given for pessary but have now more information regarding my problem after receiving a letter from the gynaecologist. I thought my major problem was uterine prolapse but it appears I have a stage 3 cystocele as well as grade 2 uterine prolapse and grade 2 rectocele. Has anyone got experience of success with pessary with this amount of issues or should I just bite the bullet and go for surgery?

Hi, similar to you I have two stage 3 and a stage 4 prolapse. I have a rigid ring pessary which has to be removed, cleaned and replaced every 6 months. This is comfortable and enables me to lead a fully active life.

Hi. had a shelf pessary fitted yesterday. will have to see if it is ok. other ring pessary no good to me, would prefer surgery. this seems to be the only option after pessary. Not as much a problem as you.

I have the same diagnoses, tried 3 different pessaries, none of them worked, they will just not stay in the place, horizontal position, next day they turn upside and hurt my cervix so experience a lot of pain. Don’t think i will try them again. Now I have lower abdominal pain that is present for two weeks accompanied with back ache, not happy.

But i think it is worth trying!

Please do not rush with surgery, that’s the last resort and very unsuccessful after a few yrs, according to my husband Dr. Good luck!!!
