Hi can anyone advise me please. I have had a pessary for bowel prolapse since april and im sure its been since then that i have so much trouble being able to empty my bowels. (most of time need to push the issue literally) can the pessary stop bowel emptying ? . My second issue is I have been bleeding inside (mostly doesnt come out for over a month, with what im assuming was a period inbetween this time, I had thrush once without evening knowing (doctor appointment for smear i found out) so could this bleeding me an infection caused by the pessary?. thanks for any advice anyone can give.

It’s very important to not get constipated with the pessary. I don’t think the pessary causes it but be sure to get plenty of fiber daily to prevent constipation. 25 to30 grams is what women need daily. Aside from high fiber food there is Metamucil or benefiber.

With straining on loo you will get haemorrhoids and further straining or even when not will result in bleeding. If blood is black you need to see a doctor but I would also ask for a colonoscopy to investigate bowel then you will be reassured. As others have said eat plenty of fibre and drink fluids.fibrogel helps. I take that. Sometimes a pear will stimulate bowel
