Aged 53. Still having heavy painful period. Diagnosed as womb covered in fibroids and will likely need a hysterectomy. Currently on NHS waiting list. Finding condition debilitating physically and emotionally, is this common or just me? So lethargic most of the time abs sometimes feel anxious. I take iron tabs. Now impacting on my working life 14 days per month. Spend most of my leisure time lying on the couch. Does anyone experience these symptoms?
Your response would be appreciated. 🌝

This is common Bev. I am the same age as you and I go through this every month. I am just waiting for my appointment to get it all out. My advice to you is to do your research there are differing treatments besides hysterectomy, there is embolization and other procedures. Your consultant will be able to let you know what will be best for your condition. In the interim, whilst waiting your GP can suggest medication you can use to reduce the flow, you want to avoid becoming anaemic. Try to exercise and eat healthy, this gets your body ready for any procedure. All the best.
Hi, I don't have fibroids but there is an enzyme called Serrapeptase that can help. Several women on this forum have taken it and it has dissolved their fibroids. I take it for endometriosis. It will increase pain levels for a few weeks. Worth starting on the lowest dose (80,000iu). Women with fibroids say they get brown discharge for a few weeks but I believe this shows its working.
Please make sure you check drug interactions if you do decide to take it.
Have they given you Tranexamic acid for the heavy bleeding? It works very well.
