This afternoon I went to see the doctor as been having stomach cramps , lower back pain , espically coming on at night, at first I thought this was a urine infection
My doctor gave me a internal examination and said straight away that I had a prolapse , much to my surprise ,she said she could see it , she explained everything and now I’m being referred to the gynaecology dept at the local hospital, hopefully will sort this out as it’s really getting me down and I’ll be 60 this year and this has come abit of a shock ,
I am taking paracetamol for the pain , she said that I will need to do pelvic floor exercises directed from by my gynaecology appt
I will be needing this forum very much I think and I’m so glad there is such a helpful group to have support and read your posts
Thank you for reading

Topical hrt can be very helpful as it strengthens all the tissues so keeps things in place. I also found Pilates with an experienced prolapse instructor made a huge difference and I’ve been able to reverse it.
Hi there ....I managed a bladder prolapse for 10 yrs with hrt and a kegal 8 exerciser these are a god send I've had 3 now pls Google kegal 8 ...I had a repair last Feb and all was great for 8 months unfortunately now I think my posterier repair had failed ad now I feel constant pressure in my bowel its bloody awful and I feel like crying 😢 I had a bad bout of constipation at Xmas that I bleed badly so I feel my repair at the back has failed..I'm bk on hrt and using my kegal 8 twice a day to see if I can help this before I consider a 2nd repair I went private so it cost 6.500 I've made another app to see my consultant in Feb I'm so fed up as I thought I had put all this behind me...honest it makes you feel very vulnerable I'm a young 63 Yr old my poor partner must fe rejected as I'm no longer interested in being intimate it makes you feel very unsexy lol.. like I said I feel its the back of my pelvic floor now called the anterior..pls buy a kegal 8 honest they are worth every penny...Good luck ..jx
thank you for the reply..however I have had very bad experiences with the medical profession…I now work with an herbalist the dr.’s have done more harm then good
Hi there....I feel like a advert for kegal 8 but they are brilliant to help with pelvic floor ..I've had 3 over last ten years as I had a cystocel bladder prolapse got bad at times ..I've had a repair now I went private but I still use kegal 8...Google them they are worth the money x
I also recommend the Kegal 8 it’s brilliant. I had an anterior and posterior repair which failed within 9 months. The cystocele is far worse now but I don’t want more surgery. I use the kegal 8 and it’s helped me manage. I also use a natural sea sponge as a pessary on worse days and use the oestrogen vaginal cream. Search for jade and pearl sea sponge pessaries- I just bought natural sponges from Amazon and follow the same cleaning regime as the J&P recommend. I discovered these on this forum and they have made a huge difference to my quality of life.
I'm so glad to read this as I've just had a painful and frightening experience where a GP (a brilliant GP I should add) inserted a pessary and the pain was so bad (I'll spare the details) I had to go back within two hours and ask her to remove it. Anyway have been wondering what to try and this seems like a good idea. Sorry for the hijack Tjt63.
I take the sponge out to go to the loo then rinse and replace. I don’t use it all the time if at home, more for being out. I don’t have any problem with getting it in and out. You will need to start with a piece and trim it down to what works for you. You have to wet it and squeeze the excess water out before inserting so it supports the bladder. I clean in hot water and hydrogen peroxide (just a bit) at night then rinse and hang it in a laundry bag (those ones made for delicates) to dry overnight.
Hi and welcome. I think you'll get a lot of support here as we can all understand the emotional impact as well as the obvious physical stuff. It can take time to get over the initial shock of diagnosis so remember to look after your emotinal self too - I've had to appky a good dose of self compassion! I think the gynae referral is good. I've been referred to a women's physiotherapist so that could be another option for you?
