hi all,

i had a laparoscopy and cystoscopy yesterday afternoon which showed i have a raging bladder infection and adhesions all over my pelvis. i’m feeling slightly overwhelmed as nothing abnormal has ever showed up on a scan or in bloods/urine samples, which is why my gyno was really uncertain about doing the lap. she was absolutely adamant that she wouldn’t find anything, it has literally taken 4 months to convince her, even though she had other senior gynos and doctors telling her that a lap was the right thing to do. she removed the adhesions and i’ve started iv antibiotics but now i’m just wondering what the next step would be for me. i’m aware that it’s common for adhesions to regrow and i’ve been in pain for over a year now so i’m really nervous about that happening. i’m due to see my gyno in about an hour so hopefully she’ll enlighten me but i also just wanted to say that if you think you would benefit from a laparoscopy PLEASE don’t be afraid to keep asking about it. for some reason laparoscopies are really tricky to get (especially at the moment due to covid) but gyno’s are not always right about what you need and no one knows your body better than yourself! if you think something’s not right then it probably isn’t.

❤️❤️

Well said!!!! Adhesions can only be seen properly with a laparoscopy.I'm at the more severe end having adhesions on Bowel, bladder, pelvis and abdomen. A word of caution, adhesions can regrow, I have had numerous separation surgeries but unfortunately I have been advised that further surgery would be too risky for complications.

I manage with a combination of meds, physio and injections.

I had to fight to get a proper diagnosis (5yrs), changing doctors and hospitals. We know when something isn't right with our bodies so stay strong and let your voice be heard!!!!

thank you so much for letting me know! luckily (?) my gyno doesn’t think the adhesions were what was causing the pain that caused me to need a lap (she has no idea what’s causing it) but i’m still worried about it possibly growing back worse (i was lucky enough to have the thin/mesh adhesions as opposed to the ones which pull on your organs). 5 years is an awfully long amount of time, i’m so sorry to hear that. doctors really need to be taught that just because it’s not visible on scans doesn’t mean it’s not there. i hope you’re doing well!
