Hi everyone,I had a prolapse in February at the beginning of the pandemic.I saw a you doctor who said she would refer me to see a specialist. Then obviously Covid raised it ugly face.all appointments cancelled,I felt I was on my own.luckly someone put me onto the Squeezy app and after a few weeks I could manage a 20 minute walk without to much discomfort.Fast forward now to October and a specialist examined me.He showed me a pesserie and to be honest the size of it scared me and I asked for an operation. Now 1 week later I’m regretting this option but couldn’t bare to go on like this forever .Am I tied to this operation now?

You don't have to go through with it, you have the right to cancel as late as walking through the hospital door on the day ! although that probably wouldn't go down to well !

Just call the surgeons secretary and say you want a bit longer to think about it.

It's your body and you are the one who decides. Maybe you could take your time and do more research about the proposed operation, likelihood of further organ prolapse after operation, etc. In the meantime, there are many ways to manage the prolapse. Lots of online pelvic floor exercises, including pilates. The exercises may need to be done regularly before you find an improvement. Sea sponges may help - like a pessary, all natural. There's excellent information here in the Prolapse posts from Highlander Mo (I think). Have you tried pelvic. organ support undergarments? Pelvicfloorsupport.com reviews some designs. I've ordered a Hide-a-way! It's like a sports bra for your pelvic organs. Designed to allow you to walk and move around without feeling that your organs are going to fall out!

There is hope for improvement and less discomfort. Miracles take just a little longer. Hang on in there.

Thanks 2020newlife,for being so informative.I have never heard of sea sponges,I will do a bit of research on them.I have been doing pelvic floor exercises since the start of lockdown, early March.Thank goodness they really helped get me through the early dark days.but recently on a walk through the park I had to turn around and go home it felt so uncomfortable.Am I just prolonging the operation by trying different methods 🤔🤔xxxx

Hi Hodgey58 is this a uterus prolapse or a vaginal wall / bladder prolapse you have?. If it's a vaginal wall/bladder I had a op on 1st Sept. this year and all went well.

Hi there nothingimpossible,it’s a vaginal wall/bladder prolapse that I have .Glad all went well for you .Are you pleased you went ahead with it .x

Hi Hodgeyt58, yes I am pleased that I had the op. I have no discomfort at all now also no UTI'S, and so far bladder has stayed in place. I dont go to the loo as much as I did before the op. The NHS do not use the mesh these days because it can cause problems. They have to warn you about things that can go wrong on any operation to cover themselves. The choice is yours, I dont know how old you are but I am 69yrs . Bantam 12 is correct you can change your mind when you walk through the hospital door. A woman changed her mind right at the last minute as she got scared at what they told her but we all felt she was silly because she had a cyst on the ovary that needed to come out and that could become very dangerous if left. But she refused the op. Let us know what you decide and good luck.

Hi, sorry to hear about your prolapse. I had a bladder & vaginal wall prolapse after my son was born. I was weeing a lot and couldn’t stand for long had dragging feeling. I had the operation and my bladder is much stronger and don’t have leakage issues! Subsequently my uterus has prolapsed and I’m wearing a daily cube pesssary to support this. Started with ring one as thought cube too big but you get used to size and putting it in and out yourself. I’m still happy to have had bladder op. Gave you seen a female health physio? That really helped me. Good luck.
