Hi, my daughter had abnormal Pap test results on two occasions. There were some additional tests undertaken related to this, but in the end they told her to stop smoking and to ensure she ate nutritionally well, and that it would resolved itself. The problem did resolve itself - both times. Your medical history is a bit more complicated than my daughters, but you are now in the hospital system and it appears that they are moving quickly, so follow this through and meanwhile, try not to wind yourself into panic mode. Invariably one thinks the worse, but there is now a policy not to treat abnormal Pap smears so radically as in the past. However, do take notes so that you can recall everything which may be useful at some time in the future.
When I was in my twenties, I had symptoms similar to yours. Following an abnormal Pap test, I had a colposcopy which did not reveal anything serious. Eventually I was diagnosed with endometriosis and had surgery twice to remove some of the growths. Taking birth control pills helped regulate things and I felt much better. Hang in there and try to keep a positive attitude. Please keep us posted and know that we’re here for you.
Hi sorry to hear about your problems. I am so glad you went to get help. Good luck with everything. I had similar problems as a teenager and mine was endometriosis. This is a painful condition, mine was helped by the pill and an operation on my ovary. Take care
Hi. I have endometriosis and IBS as a symptom. My periods were also very painful. My blood test showed abnormal cells and not my smear test. I panicked and went private with CT scan and a laparoscopy. When you have endometriosis, it tends to distort tests which may appear as something more sinister but it Most likely isn’t. I’m due to have another laparoscopy soon. I have a 9cm cyst and a fibroid so will have a good clean out. I never took birth control pills to manage mine. I wish I did now but I’m now 46 and going through the change so probably not required now.
Don’t worry too much. Your symptoms are identical to mine. It’s not nice but it’s not cancer. Stay positive and know that we’re all here for you to bounce off.
Just a though, this could also be adenomyosis? It's where the lining of your uterus can grow into the muscle walls and cause awful ovulation pain as well as heavy periods, pain after sex etc. Also it's frustrating and scary but *so* many symptoms of women's health issues align with cancer so try and put that out of your mind for now.
