Anyone had surgery by Mr Christopher Wong ?

I've been diagnosed with Pudendal Neuralgia and have been referred to Mr Christopher Wong for decompression surgery.

Has anyone here already had surgery by Mr Wong ?

Would love to get some insight as to what his surgery entails and what you all think of his surgery and aftercare.

I’ve never heard of him. Is he a doctor? A neurosurgeon? Urologist?

Where is he doing surgery?

He's a UK surgeon that does Pudendal nerve decompression surgery.

Hi, Unfortunately I can't answer your question but I am very interested in where you went to get your diagnosis and how you got referred. i have been suffering with irritation of the pudendal nerve for nearly two years and it is getting worse. I was diagnosed Jan 2019 in London and have been doing physio privately as still waiting for my NHS appointment to come through at UCL in London because of COVID. I've been doing stretching exercises religiously every day since Jan 2019 and started with a different physio doing trigger point release earlier this year. So far nothing is helping and I would like a second opinion as I think I may have pudendal nerve entrapment rather than irritation. I was thinking about looking into going to Nantes in France for a consultation and second opinion but if there is somewhere closer that would be good. My original consultant in London didn't even mention that decompression surgery was available in the UK. Sorry I can't answer your question but any information would be really helpful eg who diagnosed you and referred you and at which hospital. Was it privately or through the NHS? Thanks

Hi Humming

I’m so sorry to hear that you’ve been suffering for two years - it’s a horrendous condition that I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy.

I saw Dr Greenslade at the Spire hospital in Bristol for a diagnostic nerve block.

Because this was successful, he then gave me three choices.

He could either refer me to Nante, to Christopher Wong in the UK or via the NHS to NHS surgeons either in Surrey or Kent I’m sorry I can’t remember which.

I can try and find out who they are for you if you’d like.

Dr Greenslade is Private not NHS and is incredibly difficult to get a response from but if you persevere it’s worth it or maybe you could get your GP to refer you to him ?

I’m not sure if this would be more effective so maybe you could try both routes. Try calling and emailing yourself but also ask your GP to refer you.

A two pronged attack is always better 😇

The telephone number for Dr Greenslade is 07974 412933. Nobody ever answers the phone so you have to leave a voicemail message.

The email address is bristolpainclinic@gmail.com

He and Christopher Wong trained with Professor Robert in Nante about 15 years ago and I know from reading on forums that some people have received surgery from Christopher Wong over in Nante in the past.

I hope this information helps you and let me know how you get on.

If I can find out any more information about Christopher Wong I’ll come back on here and let you know.

Hi Pitibev. Thanks very much for the information I will try and contact him. I would also be interested in the names of the surgeons in surrey or Kent. I actually live in south east Kent so Surrey or Kent is very convenient. I have heard that the consultant s in Nantes are the best so wanted to get a second opinion with them but in reality don't know how I could make it as I can only do about 20mins sitting at a push.

Yes this is a terrible condition - I can't believe two years ago I walked up Snowdon with my just turned 5 year old daughter . Used to run once a week and do lots of exercise. That all stopped in Jan 2019. I have to think about everything I do now and can only really walk on the flat.

Anyway thanks again for the info.

I'll pop Dr Greenslades secretary an email over the weekend and ask about the uk nhs surgeons.

Yes, the Nante team are supposed to be the best. I have no clue how to contact them though.

I TOTALLY understand how the lack of being able to sit down effects you - I've had the same problem. One day, I WILL be able to go to a restaurant again, drive a car again, go back to work and even just sit and relax in the evenings.

And as for exercise ...... wow - would love to get back to the gym etc.

I REALLY hope you can get the right appointments with the right people - it makes such a difference.

Good Luck and I'll let you know when I hear back from Dr Greenslade about the nhs surgeons

hi Pitibev

I don't know whether you have seen my other post asking how to contact Nantes. I've had a reply from one of the administrators of this site and Nantes are doing tele consultations and face to face. A tele consultation is around 100 euros so I have asked them if they could arrange one for me. I'm hoping they speak reasonable English as my French is non existent. I will keep you posted. Thanks for looking into the NHS surgeons for me. After nearly two years of this - i need to ensure that I have covered all angles and possible treatments.

Thanks

Ooooh - no i haven’t but i’ll go have a peek.

Thanks for that. I would guess they have English speakers.

That’s great news and i totally agree, every avenue needs to be explored - we can’t just spend the rest of our lives with this pain.

Thanks again for that info and let us know how it goes.

Good Luck !
