After 2 years I am still struggling immensely. I have had 3 surgeries (1 caused the problem, and the other two tried to correct it). Has anyone else suffered with nerve damage? And what nerves? I struggle walk uphill and to lift anything more than a couple pounds (among other miserable symptoms). I would appreciate anyone's story or advice. Seems every doctor has a different idea of the problem but no one really seems to help. I'm in excruciating pain and cannot do anything I was able to do since I woke up from surgery. Thank you.
Hello , I’m sorry you are in pain. I have had the same problem for years unfortunately. I had a hysterectomy 10 years ago and have been left with painful adhesions, my ovary has fused to my pelvis. I cannot lift anything heavy and have had to cut down my hours at work. I’ve had surgery but they can’t do any more for me. I think some of the nerve endings are trapped in these adhesions and it causes pain. It get me down but I try to keep positive. Ask doctor could you have any help and see what they suggest. Ask to be referred to a pelvic pain specialist . I really wish you all the best.
Hi there,I also have a damaged genitofemoral nerve from previous surgery. The pain after surgery was just like a hot rod. Now it varies between broken glass feeling to barbed wire.!!
I had a drg stimulator fitted 3 years ago but unfortunately it isn't helping and I'm waiting to have it removed.
I also can't manage hills or any lifting, sweeping motion or walk too far without creating a lot of pelvic groin pain.
I'm waiting to see a consultant who specializes in pain after pelvic surgery. Maybe for a neurectomy of the problem nerve.
Do you know which nerves are affected.
Have you been referred to pain management. They will be able to help with medication and physiotherapy. Gabapentin and amitriptyline help with nerve pain but unfortunately doesn't suit me.
I also have sacroiliac joint pain which gives me really bad backache.I wear a sacroiliac belt which does help for a while.
I take 7ml of oramorph mid morning and in the afternoon if I have a busy day.!! 97 yr old mum,95 yr father in law ,2 yr grandson 5 yr granddaughter all live in our village+ 2wks old granddaughter 30mins away. And the GPS say you must rest!!!
I feel for you, this pain isn't good. Try to keep positive and try to get referred to pain management. xx
Hi Tara I read your post with interest, I had a full hysterectomy nearly 13 years ago and have now been suffering from pudendal neuropathy for nearly 3 years... I never ever thought the two were connected. The pudendal nerve pain just came out of nowhere and I put it down to sitting for my job all day, by end of the day I would be in agony like someone had poured burning acid over my left buttock. Thought it was all in my head... thought at first brought on by menopause and vaginal dryness... GP put me on Amytriptiline which worked ok in the beginning, not helping much now. I was eventually referred to a pelvic physio which has been the most help but only really because she totally understood what I was talking about.
I’m so sorry to hear of the pain you’ve been left suffering.
I’ve had four surgeries for stage 4 endometriosis some of which were very extensive and the last took
6 hours and have been l left in daily pain now.
Some of the pain they are trying to tell me is nerve damage. It is there all the time and radiates down my leg and the pain frequently intensifies to make me feel extremely nauseous.
I also now get back spasms due to scar tissue pulling on my bowel.
I believe a lot of the pain to be reoccurring disease and adhesions/ scar tissue as well as nerve pain.
I take pregabalin for the nerve pain but it has helped with the bladder and leg but not the constant pain.
