So I have not long finished my antibiotics for PID and still feeling awful. I wanted to have a chat/support forum specifically for PID to find some comfort in talking to others.

Anyone out there?

Hi DM14,

I’m sorry you’re still feeling unwell. Are you feeling generally unwell or is there any pain? Is it possible you might need to have a second course of antibiotics? I would definitely book to see your GP or if you prefer you can attend a sexual health centre as they are the experts in treating PID event if it’s not related to sexual health. Some women although very low get it if they develop an infection after a mirena insertion although this isn’t very common.

I’d also look into probiotics as antibiotics also kill the good bacteria we need in our bodies. I’ve put a link on here which will take you to the nhs page. Some of the information will apply to you some won’t so please don’t be alarmed or worried by it.

nhs.uk/conditions/pelvic-in...

I’m hoping someone on here who has also had PID can come on here and give you some additional advice.

I hope this helps but keep on posting as this is a very common question

When I had this, they admitted me to the hospital for IV antibiotics for a week.

Now you feel better?

Kris84 profile image
Kris84 in reply tointrouble

I did..I actually got PID from an iud that i had inserted a week or so prior to the hospital visits..also turns out i have PCS..pelvic congestion syndrome..there is no cure for that so I'm constantly in pain. Once you get PID you are more susceptible to further bouts of it too..

I’m on day 4 of antibiotics for PID. Mine was triggered by a huge amount of internal intervention following a pregnancy loss. I get real pelvic pain in my bum too so was actually a bit reassured to read the above comment!

I have seen various doctors... the one I have now seems to be the most understanding as she has endometriosis herself so can sympathise with pelvic pain.

Diets... I have done wheat free and gluten free but I am certain my issues is not affected by foods x

I have PID too I was diagnosed last month. I had always had pain during sex and everytime it feels like the first time. I thought it would just get better with time. I was treated with doxycycline and now I’m suffering with pain in my whole abdomen and pelvis, and it’s pulsing with pain. I’m not sure how I’m going to deal with this long term. I never wanted to be sick. Is this a disease or is it an infection? Because I’m scared this will happen to me again. And I don’t want to deal with it.

I hope you are feeling ok today.

I am also feeling scared as I have not been diagnosed by the doctor.

Can I ask - What were your symptoms? What tests did the doctor do before diagnosing?

I have been to 2 different doctors in the last week. I have a dull pain on my left side of my abdomen. One doctor put me on PID med’s immediately and I have been on them for 5 days now. The pain has not gone away.

The other doctor has not ruled out PID but is more convinced I have a bladder infection because infection is only showing up in my urine.

I got tested for chlamidya last week and it came back negative but I had Chlamidya 4 years ago (and was successfully treated for it ) and it is because of this that I am now worried it’s PID.

Any info you have would be much appreciated. I am worried sick.

Thank you

Hello, I know you posted quite some time ago but it seems like your situation is similar to mine. Today is day 5 of being on antibiotics (doxycycline) and I have very little or no improvement. How many days were you on your antibiotics until you started feeling better? Any detailed information is helpful. Thank you : )

Hi, I’m very new here!

My gyno appt is in 3 days & im freaking out. I’ve had a history of bacterial vaginosis & I’ve treated it on my own (with boric acid suppositories) but over the last week, I’ve started having awful pain in my lower abdomen. I’ve also (over the last several months) started having bleeding during & after sex. But no pain with sex, no fever, no painful urination. So I’m not really sure what it is. What’s the exam like for PID?

I also had a cervival & uterine biopsy done 8 months ago due to an irregular pap so idk if that’s a cause or what

There is no evidence to back the use of these herbal pills for pelvic inflammatory disease so unfortunately we can’t recommend their use as general inflammation is very different as pelvic inflammatory disease is a very different process and needs aggressive treatment with antibiotics

I have been convinced that I have a PID for the past 2 years. Doctors in Ontario dismissed the presence of free fluid, regardless of the cycle phase, combined with the horrendous pelvic pain. Abs that worked at least to some extent include amoxicillin, clavulin and maybe cipro. Doxy and azithromycin (which did not do anything), from my understanding are better suited for things like chlamydia and mycoplasmas, since they don't have cell wall. My current GP, whom I switched to after frustration, confirmed my suspicions that my bacteria are likely opportunists like e coli, enterobacter etc, rather than STIs. These things usually appear up there in combinations and it's much easier to treat chlamydia and syphilis than these bacteria.

In Russia, they sometimes inject women with certain toxins like one from typhus bacteria to cause fever and strong activation of immune system. People say it works! Has anyone had a real fever, like 38-39 C for a few days after their PID began???
