Total hysterectomy with BSO

Hi, I’m about to go in for this op due to Uterine masses, which they say are likely benign fibroids but cannot exclude uterine sarcoma. I have not gone through the menopause yet, therefore will go through surgical menopause. This frightens me a bit and was just wondering if anyone else has gone through this. How did you cope? Any advice or help greatly appreciated.

Hi

I haven't been through this but notice you have no replies yet. An old friend of mine has, I don't know the details just that she coped.

I wonder if you post again on "Women's Health" might you get some replies ?

Have you considered phoning one (or more ) helplines, such as McMilan Nurses, to ask / chat this through ?

All the best for your surgery.

xxx

Hi Mary

Thank you so much for your reply.

I have posted in the hysterectomy Association and have had replies there 😁 x

I had to have a total hysterectomy and my ovaries taken as well.

Rest, make sure you start replacement hormones ASAP. I didn’t and ended up with severe depression. I tried the patch but would get severe head aches so we switched to pills. I do fine with low dose estrogen. Also I wasn’t prepared for the weight gain.

Good luck.

Oh no, how much weight did you put on :(.

Nobody has mentioned this, I was hoping to be losing weight as I currently look around 5/6 months pregnant x
