I posted a question this week does Amitriptyline make you gain weight? Thansk for all the advise. BUT at the same time I was put on Domperidone for nausea. I think it is that, it has taken the sicky away but the bowels are so blocked up I really dont like it. Any way google has said it can increase the appetite,so am going to cut down and see. Any one know or tried Domperidone??Cheers my fellow PBC'ers

I was one who answered your question about Amitryp. and I also take Domperidone or Motilium which is its commercial name. I have Scleroderma, Sjogrens Syndrome and PBC and severe migraine, and, and, and, so take a load of meds every day to deal with my symptoms.

As far as I know, the reason for taking Domperidone is to help the digestive system keep food moving in the right direction. With Scleroderma I have eosophageal dismotility which means for me that I have no Peristalsis which is the muscular contraction. So I take Domperidone to keep my system moving along. It stops the sudden vomiting which can happen to me without warning. It certainly doesn't cause constipation for me, I wish that it did because I have fecal incontinence and have to stay near a toilet (or at least know where the nearest one is) all the time. I can believe it will stimulate the appetite because the nausea and pain are gone so I feel hungry again sometimes.

Do you drink plenty of water? Extra water can help cure constipation and also help you lose weight.

Best wishes

For nausea I love cocculine, have been using it for 10 years, I did't find side affects. On the other hand: eating frequently, often small portions, don't be hungry or overfed, may also help. :)
