Have posted a lot re pain moans and groans, at 4 mgs since May this year, diagnosed with osteoarthritis , severe in hip, ortho dr says need hip replacement, also in hands, and most of time pain in other joints, wrist ankles etc, but would this condition cause muscles all over body to hurt, not an ache, more like hurting , like inflammed, rheumy said mos ago no longer have pmr? Could be fibromyalgia, but dont have brain fog etc, , extra strength tylenol doesnt give ant relief, hip surgey be few mos, still considering increasing pred by 5 mgs for a week or so, but as I said before rheumy said while ago of course will help because pred is a painkiller, also said could go on methotrexate, which have now learned not normally prescribed for arthritis or fibro, as I said in previous posts really getting me down in tears many days, limited ad to what I can do with chronic pain everday

You said, "also said could go on methotrexate, which have now learned not normally prescribed for arthritis or fibro"

Methotrexate is prescribed for some types of arthritis, in particular inflammatory arthritis such as rheumatoid and psoriatic arthritis. It has also been shown to work for osteoarthritis. So if you give it a try and it makes things better for you, then it will be a good thing.

Becareful what you are reading online, methotrexate is given at much lower doses for arthritis than it is for other uses, so make sure you are reading the right information.

It can take 3 months to work. I was on it and it did take three months to work but it did indeed work.

hi Arvine, we both struggle with osteoarthritis, mine is spreading my sciatica literally never goes away. I have my tramadol for back and knees. My butalbital for neck arthritis and headaches and migraines. I have metaxalone, a muscle relaxant for sleeping. I am trying, trudging through mud. I wonder if I have fibro. I asked a dr. and he just said my nortriptyline anti depressant would be the treatment. I don’t know what to do but try alot of things to get comfortable during the day. I also have aches all over sometimes and feel like I am getting a flu. I must take my temperature nearly every month. I never have a fever, I have to fight the fatigue everyday and brain fog. By the way my teeth decided to fall apart in June. Just had a tooth pulled and an impacted wisdom tooth. There’s more but you are probably bored to death. Talk anytime, feel free to tell me your aches and pains that you live with. I hope for a less pain day for you, we all need a break. Feel better.

Hi sugaree, well I dont know if osteoarthritis would cause this all muscles throughout body to hurt every day, yes joints hurt ankles wrists elbows shouders and of course hip ( need hip replacement ortho dr says), but why all muscles, hands hirt right hand especially swells and fingers hurt especially miidle and little finger , middle finger almost wants to lock if bending and painful, , Im stll at 4 mmgs pred so can only take extra strength tylenol which really does touch this hurting , rheumy said could be fibro but havevonly had virtual appts with him last year or so and dont have brain fog, get very tired because every simple task I manage requires so much effort, shower, make bef do dishes cook(for myself) exhausts me, how could rheumy diagnose fibro on virtual visit, also said could yry methotrexate, which am apprehensive about, I had some issues back, coupe labral tears hip glutes January, but all of this severity of pain everywhere every day since July of this year, the pain of losing my son just over year ago along with this physical pain is becoming mor than I can cope with each day, need some relief

hi arvine, I don’t think all doctors here even believe in fibromyalgia. My mother had it and she said dr checking a few different spots on body that would feel tender and if you have pain in most of the spots and flu like symptoms of achy, sore muscles and fatigue it would be fibromyalgia. I ache not just in arthritic just everywhere especially after severe stress. I don’t know how they can diagnose in a virtual visit.

I am so sorry you lost your son. I cannot imagine your pain. Something that traumatic would trigger a flare up of everything in me. Probably my pain meds wouldn’t work. As a mother and a grandmother I have you in my prayers.

I also have what they call trigger finger in my middle and ring finger. They get stuck at middle joint and I have to pry them open. I have soft finger splints I wear at night to keep them straight. My heart goes out to you my friend. I hope this day is a little better.
