well saw rheumy today, finally decided to try the injections of methotrexate, for all over joint and muscle pain, hands, fingers, wrists , ankles , right hip( getting hip replacement) , was reluctant hearing about all side affects , bit chronic pain since end of June 2024, starting at 15 mgs 1st week, 17.5 second week, ( then bloodwork at 2 weeks) see how liver tests ate then 20 mgs going forward, am apprehensive, and will miss my glass of wine at end of day and dinner, but have to give it a try, although could be 3-6 mos before pain relief apparently

Usually for a different arthritis But fies get used for this as well

May take time for the benefits a good few months

Hopefully it helps you

Usually upto 6 months etc to see if helps or halted

My side effects where tired and fatuige

You can get pain relief alongside

If your comfortable you can have a glass of wine at end of day maybe a little bit more

You can ask to double check

I got told it's OK in moderation

Chronic pain is exhausting and debilitating. Also exhausting is the absence of any definitive causes or sources. I have osteoarthritis in most joints and the pain levels travel around. Particularly bad atm is right wrist. Pretty sure I need trapeziotomy, as had in other wrist a few years ago. Also need knee replacements. But god knows how long will have to wait given NHS sorry state. Also have PMR, although rheumatology dept were pretty useless, in that they couldn’t decide if I had it or not and no tests or scans offered. Prescribed Prednisolone 10 mg which I have gathered from this group is too low an initial dose, though it did make a difference, but pain increased noticeably once reduced to 9mg. After several months, offered Methotrexate, which I declined and gave up on hospital and trying to taper at a suitable rate, down now to 2 mg. Any lower and pain seems to worsen, but I really have no idea of the source. Currently, it’s mainly wrist, hands, neck, shoulders, feet and knees. But I know that at least two of these are from osteoarthritis. I’m afraid this isn’t much help, advice-wise, more empathy and commiseration from someone with, perhaps, a similar predicament.
