Just wondering if side effects get much more if going from 25 to 50. I'm just always leery of pharma and effects. I was told not to open the capsule and that 25 to 50 is not that much.I think I'm tolerating 25 ok, crossing fingers.
Pregabalin increase : Just wondering if side... - Pain Concern
Pregabalin increase

People are sometimes titrated to starting dose to avoid side effects of drowsiness etc.
25 mg is a very small dose. Minimum dose is 75 mg morning and evening.
Was this explained to you?
Everyone is different, and capsules should never be opened ,and all drugs prescribed, you won't know until tryed one of the reasons it gets increased, lots live with some side effects ,and lots cant as well ,the dose is low, I've worked upto 600mg , 200mg 3 times a day.
Given that this drug is used primarily for nerve pain, do you find that it has any benefit for OA?
I have OA in both knees, hips and spine as well as Peripheral Neuropathy. If I thought that there would be any quantifiable improvement in levels of OA pain I would be happy to increase.
No really no ,who knows if the Peipheral was helped if the OA would benefit,I know some docs where given this drug out for OA,until clampdown and drug addiction abuse on it
I get constant reminders on my repeat prescription that it's not for OA ,and for Nerve pain and then all the side effects And only benefits 1 /7 get this on my repeat prescription all the time
Yes true ,Not sure if you can take codiene
On top of these if you can take to them
Specially for your OA
If you can or would try
I'd ask
Doc
1 Paracetamol first port of call then then add on 2, Dehydracodine a little later
The Paracetamol seemingly helps all the pain meds work better as well
If Constipation is issiue
3 Lactulose
On reapeat very good for Constipation
I'd maybe see doc
Got the above from good pain nurse
If none above can be taken ,still see doc for an add on for the OA
Hi. I'm now on 100mg 3 times a day. On top of that I have another 100mg written up for me if I need it during the day.
I started on 50mg x3 daily and went up after 4 weeks.
It does seem to take a couple of weeks to build up and start working I and a few people I know on it said the same.
For me I find it as very beneficial and that out ways the brain fog and tiredness.
I have put on half a stone which I hate more than anything. I'm not sure if it's a thing but I crave sugar and sweets now. Even above chocolate. Which as a cancer patient isn't meant to be a good thing. But at present I feel that's the least of my problems
Hi I started on 75mg 3 times a day for 2 herniated and one torn disc. This has increased to 150mg 4 times a day which at 600mg is the highest recommended dose. At time when doses increased I experienced feelings of feeling ‘out of it, woosey and not myself’ but these symptoms were temporary as my body adjusted to the drug I think.
I was very very unw4ll on these tablets Bad dreams and dark thoughts. Had to come off them
hi, I have just been put on pregabalin started 25mg for 2 weeks then 50mg ( 2 weeks) now on 75mg going onto 100mg soon but having pharmacist phone call on 16th to check and up the dose working up to 600mg. Apart from feeling spaced out for a while not sure what effect it’s having. I was on buprenophine 30mcg patch but had to stop as it was stopping me breathing (at night) a lot could kill me. Now on nefopam, paracetamol for pain. The pregabalin is for PLMD (limb disorder) and tremors but not sure it’s doing anything yet. They did suggest Gabapentin but I can’t take this as I have an adverse reaction to it (causing stroke like symptoms) although it helps a lot of people with nerve problems, I was just unlucky and eventually diagnosed with FND. Hope you find the answers you need. Kevin
I went from 100mg per day to 300mg per day without any increase in side effects. Just a reduction in pain and an improvement in sleep.
I’ve been using it for 5-6years t the only thing that works for my nerve pain I’ve come down to 200ml in morning and 200 in evening only side effect I get can only effect men, keep losing my erection ,I’ve tried the blue pill but it’s the same with that ☹️
I've been surviving CRPS/RSD for the past 10 years. As part of the pain management I take pregabalin 3 times a day and at different dosages.
150mg in the morning.
75mg in the afternoon.
200mg before bed.
On top of that I take slow release 50mg Tapentadol both in the morning and at night. Alongside that I take rapid release Tapentadol 50mg every 4-6 hours and finally Sertraline as an SSRI 150mg also before bed. Then there's the exterior treatments various CBD sprays and Chilli creams. I'm also trialling Venom creams with mixed results tbh.
I do not notice any side effects whatsoever.... UNLESS .... I miss a dose. then I get hit with withdraw symptom's which is not pleasant and can take weeks to settle back down.
Prior to Pregabalin I was on 2,800mg of Gabapentin which is the maximum given here in the UK.
You may need a cocktail suitable to your condition, it took years to find one which helps me due to trial n error going cold turkey from one drug to the next. In the end the Pain Management team ( a special NHS division ) moved me to this cocktail and it was just a matter of tweaking the dosages. Don't get me wrong I still live in considerable pain but this mix helps me through the day.
Hopefully your find some of what I've written here useful
All the best
Andy
I’ve been taking Pregabalin 300mg twice a day for 12 years. It’s the only nerve pain drug to help with extremely painful trigeminal neuralgia. After trying trying several other meds for nerve pain which did nothing and had terrible side effects, Pregabalin was a life line, reducing pain by around 50 - 60%. It took a few weeks to get over the weird spaced out feelings as the dose was gradually increased. The effect on concentration and memory is long term but far better than the intense constant pain.
