New knee pain

Hi, hope you are all well, I have chondromalacia patella ( knee arthritis )And a benign tumour in my shin, I also have peripheral neuropathy in my left leg due to the problems mentioned.

Recently I have been waking up and not being able to straighten my leg due to intense pain in my knee, I have to try and straighten it really slowly, in the same way you would try to remove a plaster, slowly as the pain is excruciating.

I have lidocaine patches, cocodamol and amitriptyline for my condition.

I have an appointment booked for next week with the GP and currently waiting for a nerve block injection as I'm under pain management.

My question is, has anybody had similar to what I am experiencing and what is the cause?

Thanks for reading 🙂

yes, I am going through the same thing. My left knee is in severe pain. My foot on that leg is also numb and pain and weakness down my calf went to the emergency room the other night. I am also a cardiac patient so I am on a statin. They told me it was an adverse reaction to my statin, but the pain in my leg has not resolved yet and I’ve been off my for three days at least and not getting any relief. An x-ray did not show any bone or tissue damage. Because I also have Covid.

Evieplum, I have used Amitriptyline for years for my IBS and now it helps my Fibromyalgia, it can make you sleepy I usually take it at night. As for the lidocaine for pain that has not helped me I also have a back issue having surgery in the fall. I use Diclofenac Sodium 1% Topical Gel and that works awesome.. I use it for my back, my knees, my lower back... it has never failed me. I have done nerve blocks several times and they did work for a bit but now they are doing surgery because of the bulge and impingement I have in my back . Anymore questions just let me know

Kelly 🙂

Thank you Kelly, yeah it's awful, I had radio frequency ablation too, and I'm waiting for a nerve block injection, the ablation was horrendous, it's where they burn the nerve endings with high temperature and it was extremely painful, the consultant couldn't understand how I was in so much pain but the anaesthetist didn't work. He's wanting to try this nerve block in my spine and then if that doesn't work he wants to try this trial called spinal cord stimulator where you have an implant in your back and you can control yourself for pain relief but I've heard a few negative things about that.I've also had many different types of mediation too workout much help.

I will look at getting some of the topical gel, thank you, good luck with your upcoming surgery x
