I'm not sure if I over did it in physical therapy yesterday but I woke up with terrible knee pain, I've also noticed that my joints have been grinding when I try to do certain exercises such as squats.

knee pain
What does your therapist say?
Did the physio say what was wrong with your knee? I did exercises for my hip and my shoulder given to me by two different physios but things only got worse. They had assumed what was going on, but were wrong and the exercises did actually make things worse and when I stopped doing them things got better again.
What was wrong with your shoulder? I never feel better when I do Physio it boggles my mind.
They never really said. But I now know I have hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome which means I need a different type of exercise that what the NHS physios provide.
I did have an online appointment with a private physio who actually asked about what I do in a day and said I was already doing too much and needed to stop.
Grinding….Stop doing squats.
Hi there,
Grinding of the knee could be an early arthritis related issue or going further back than that, if you’re female then maltracking of the knee cap could be a congenital problem. We women are often knocked kneed compared to men who are the opposite and bow legged, each malformation can have its own unique consequences depending on the severity.
I had my first knee surgery at 22 years old, a “lateral retinicular release” to loosen the tight ligament that pulled the knee out of its correct alignment and a few years later, the other knee. I participated in a huge amount of sport, including running from a young age & was told initially that I was suffering from growing pains before I became a teenager.
I went on to have a further 7 knee surgeries 4 on one knee & 5 on the other, including numerous procedures during each. The ninth was a total knee replacement & patella at 51 years of age (brilliant, no pain after 40+ years!) The 10th surgery will be a tibial tubercle osteotomy which will hopefully push back my left knee replacement.
Ask your physio what the problem could be, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you will need any surgery.
Good luck, certainly look after your joints and enjoy any sports that you may like doing.
Kind Regards,
Mitch.
