Hi there, I suffer from nerve pain whenever my back pain eases off, the nerve pain I get I cannot get any relief from but when I feel it at it's strongest I tell myself to ignore it as it is not real pain from damage to my body its just like a faulty warning light in your car that has been checked and proved to be faulty so you just carry on driving and ignore the light but when it's your body's nerve pain it's just a bit harder to ignore you cannot just take out the bulb what you need is to learn to meditate and then use your mind to get rid of the pain (it doesn't remove the pain but you can force it to the back of you mind) then get on with your day the busyist you are the less it affects you.Good luck finding somthing that works for you.

Regards Poppy Ann

that’s what my neurologist suggested for me. I will try and see how it goes

That sounds awful for you. Have you considered acupuncture? I haven't personally but I read (on here I'm sure) someone advising acupuncture for nerve pain. If you're going to look into it be sure to do some research and read feedback from places who specialise in it near where you live. Good luck. x

Thank you so much for sharing I have thought about it but never followed through on it I will put in research in it. My Doctors are trying to discontinue my pain medication I won’t have a quality of life I have much more going on than I have shared due to the Surgeries and multiple Tears for which I haven’t had Repaired. My back is so bad that it Buckles and I fall and can’t walk. I don’t want anymore Surgeries as it leaves you with more Nerve Damage.

Hi there I have nerve pain for life due to prolapse surgery back in 2012 this caused me pain that I had never experienced before in my life. It took some time getting the right combination of meds to bring relief to a level where I actually had a quality of life. This being pregabalin and amitriptyline. Have been on these ever since . 600grms pregabalin and 75 mg amitriptyline. Hope this helps somewhat.

I too have been diagnosed with Stenosis and Sciatica I’m on pregabalin 150 3 times daily and Oxycodone 30 mg 3 times daily. But due to the nature of my work which is very physically demanding it compounds my pain. I tried looking for a new line of work but haven’t been successful so far.

Hi, I to have suffered from nerve pain for many years. My journey is that during one of my many operations the surgeon had to cut through some of the nerves at the base of my spine. This to enable him to lift what remains of my stomach out of my pelvis and reposition it. I was told previously that there was a high chance that this may be the case, although its hard to prepare ones self for such an incident.

When i came to from the surgery, 14 hours, I was on intravenously patient controlled pain relief and so was not aware of the nerve pain. As the days passed so the normal pain gradually reduced. It was then that i became aware of the nerve damage and associated pain. Several years later and this nerve pain has remained with me, it is always there. I describe it as being like having such awful ’Pins & Needles’ that it hurts to put ones foot down and stand. Only for me it is in my pelvis, spine, tops of my legs and lower spine.

I have tried many different pain control methods to enable me to live with the pain such as Medication, Meditation, Acupuncture, Mindfulness and many more.

I find Cognitive behavioural therapy combined with the medication Amitriptyline are for me the most successful. In that i am able to live side by side with the nerve pain. The pain is constantly fluctuating. I also have chronic pain in the area of my stomach. This being caused from strictures, internal scar tissue and from what is left of my small bowel being twisted.

For me this has become my completely normal way of living and for the most part i live side by side with the condition. I try to get the most i can from each day. But it is what it is.

I have found what works for me. But this is only from trying and investigating the many different methods of living with pain that are available. I found that for me it is a combination of several of these methods. I would suggest investigating whether there is a ‘Wellbeing Team’ available in your area. I found that while my doctor could refer me to such a team I could also self-refer. For me my local ‘Wellbeing Team’ were a great help in my journey. One in which i became aware of the many different techniques that help in living with cronic pain.

I hope you find what works for you and that your journey is a successful one.

Wow I really feel for you. I had nerve pain back in 2017. It was hard to keep a conversation as the pain would spread all over and I would be unable to concentrate. The first thing I did was cut out all sugars. Then I went keto. These all helped reduce the pain but not completely. Then after a year on keto I went carnivore for a month and all my pain disapeared. You may also want to try some supplements. Magnesium in the evening. Serrapeptase to break down any scar tissue and promote healing. L-citradine to promote better circulation to deep tissues and promote blood vessel health. alpha ketoglutarate to also protome healing. Vitamin D3 with K2 to help reduce inflammation.

I wanted to add that l-citradine helps to open up the blood vessels. Others that also help open up the blood vessels are l-arginine and vitamin B3 (aka nicotinic acid or niacin). If you get B3 dont get the non-flush type.
