I’m new here but sadly like a lot of people not new to pain! At the moment my main concern is nerve pain in my left thigh after Spine surgery, take max dose of Gabapentin & it does nothing for it. Part of the thigh is numb, part feels like it’s on fire constantly & then I also get a sudden pain so severe that I scream out loud...in my mind I imagine a laser beams firing into my skin. I’m getting desperate, the pain is really debilitating & along with other spine pain it’s tipping me over the edge.
Any advice, suggestions really would be appreciated xx

I really feel for you. I have many painful conditions. Another one to add to my list was that my nerves were cut during surgery 5 years ago leaving them exposed. Have you tried morphine, this may help a great deal. There is also nortriptyline and zomorph. I can't remember the name of the meds I'm being put on for the nerves, got to wait for consultant s letter to get to myself and my drs.. I hope you get some relief very soon. Take care Lynne
Thank you, yes tried Morphine although i’m On OxyContin now. Your condition sounds so painful, living in constant pain is hard isn’t it, although I do realise there are people living in worse states than me.
I’m hoping some wonder drug for nerve damage will one day be available for everybody xx
No, it was in the abdomen near liver, the surgery was fundoplication for a hernia and awful acid reflux. It was keyhole surgery. They made 4 or 5 incisions and then wrapped part of my stomach around my oesophagus!! How are you feeling tonight? Love and hugs Lynne xxxx
That sounds horrible & extremely painful! I’m not feeling great tonight & pain’s stopping me from sleeping. My spine has metal screws and rods, bit like scaffolding, from bottom to bra level so I can’t bend, twist etc at my waist. Pain’s really wearing me down.
Yes, pain does wear me down. I get an hour's sleep tops cos of pain. Sorry didn't reply sooner but had phone on silent so it didn't wake my hubby. I usually read with a lamp on. How are you feeling today? Take care Lynne
Hi truffs, sorry to hear that you are in pain , have you tried pregabilin it's same family drug as gabberpentin I swapped and it helped a little bit you have see what's best for you , I have chronic pain due to cervical myelopathy and like you just wish there were cures unfortunately we have to live with them.
Sorry only just seen your reply! I’m currently taking Gabapentin, it’s definitely working for nerve pain in R leg so bit scared to swap to Pregabalin. Recently had nerve root injection at L3 , it wasn’t successful due to amount of scar tissue surround nerve. Spine surgeon got very close to the nerve as it was causing muscle pain in L3 area but the scar tissue was rock hard.
Have to accept this pain is price I have to pay to be able to walk upright.
Do you mind sharing what other medication you take please?
Hi Anne, glad the gabberpentin is working for you like I said it's similar to pregabilin I was on gabberpentin for years but nerve pain got really bad through the compression c4c5 long story 😭 my medication I take is kapake, baclofen , pregabilin, the baclofen is really good for the jerking which started as twitching in the muscles and that is all because of a misdiagnosis which as left me with cervical myelopathy 😁
