As some of you know I have a crappy bad back with a touch of scoliosis 👍
OMG..... Dun dun daaaaaaa.
GET A BACK BRACE! 😁
i thought my kidneys were popping out my back last week. OMG the pain but doc says it's the right side compensating for the twist.. mahoosive relief 😉
So I thought f**k it I'm getting back brace, OMG it's the best, wear it all day if you can stand it, trying to get your draws down for a pee was the biggest hurdle hahaha but the feeling of just a little pain relief was fantastic. It may not work for you but it's worth the £6 I paid for this wonderful bit of kit. Thank you thank you ❤️

Thank you for posting, I might try it, so pleased it's helped you. Take care Lynne
Mad legs am I assuming that you suffer from twitchy legs at night? just a thought but have you tried drinking a glass of tonic water a day. only because I suffer from chronic thigh cramps and I was advised to drink tonic water and I have to say it works.
I've just got my appointment through for stanmore orthopaedic hospital and I am pretty down about it I have to wait until August of this year before I've even got a consultation 😭
Hi Gigi, I was referred over from 31st of December 2019 and I waited a month as I didn't hear anything and had to phone Barnet general and they hadn't even sent over the referral by that time. I got the letter yesterday from stanmore for the orthopaedic hospital but they've been playing around with my back for the past 7 years at Barnet general. A year ago I was diagnosed with scoliosis because of the degenerative discs, cracked vertebrae and slippage. I was mortified when I got a letter yesterday and have to wait 6 months for that to come through. So it's trying to find any method that I can that decreases the pain, my movement ,sleeping you name it. My advice to you if you have a letter from your pain clinic and been referred to neurosurgeon then try and get hold of the neurosurgeon Secretary and ask them if they have sent out a referral letter for you.I was advised by my surgeon secretary to phone up every week to see if there is a cancellation available.
Thanks for your reply. I have had 4 feet ops at Stanmore, I was however discharged last August as they had kept me as their patient because I needed an ankle fusion on my right leg and my foot realigned again. I not in pain, so have left that for now. My back being my main concern. I am with Queens in Romford and have been waiting a year for this op. I was given two dates after chasing, 13th or 27 Feb subject to another MRI I am having this tomorrow. I decided Christmas to get another opinion at Stanmore. I wish now I had gone there first, it’s just the journey from Essex, I’m getting older now. I had the best treatment there, so wish you all the very best. X
I've had many doctors tell me that a brace will weaken my core muscles making my problem worse. But I don't have scoliosis. I encourage you to discuss this with your doctor.
If anything it strengthens the core muscles because you're having to sit up straight you can even exercise in your back race but you can't sleep in it.
I can understand your frustration. I can’t stand up straight without a good deal of effort and pain. I also read not a good idea to use, must have been written by someone without back pain. X
Probably lol 😅 it's bad enough having to explain again and again to every locum that you see. then they want to know why you're taking 6 tramadol a day so that's bad for you etc etc my answer is if you can give me something stronger I'll take it 🙄
That's right I wore one at work for years my muscles became very weak and other areas were over compensating ,ended up with a torn stomach muscle as well, which then led to strains elsewhere ,causing bilateral sciatica and piriformis syndrome, nearly 3 years on im still suffering ,what was only my back is now everywhere from the waist down in chronic pain 😕
I take Gabapentin 1200mg it’s taken that severe pain away, especially the leg pain. I do get brain fog though. Having RA I also am on Naproxen and 5mg prednisone. I use heat patches and gel. I can’t take opiate meds. The collar of the vertebrae on L5 has fallen on L4 causing severe stenosis. Had my MRI today, so see what happens. Last time I insisted on seeing the main neurosurgeon, in charge of my case. I also have osteoporosis. X
Gigi I've been given amitriptyline gabapentin and I can't take either as I'm mum's full-time carer and waking up like a space cadet wasn't doing me any favours so it's just a straight tramadol for me lol
I couldn’t get on with Amitriptyline at all, it made me a Zombie. I was in fact put on this before my back troubles, by a GP to try and stop Naproxen. Later when I finely got to the pain management clinic for my back, I was offered Gabapentin, I didn’t want it in case it effected me the same. I was then offered Duluxatine, I wasn’t sure but when I did ask my GP to prescribe it, he didn’t read the hospital letter correctly and gave me too high a dose and made me very ill, so didn’t want anymore. I had to take something as the pain was unbearable so I slowly took the Gabapentin and built up to the dose I am on now. Tramadol makes me so ill. Just shows how different we all are. It’s just the wait for any treatment, ie an op on the NHS is unbelievable. I still haven’t heard re my recent MRI. My brother in law has been prescribed Pregabalin and he is getting on well with it, he refused Gabapentin as it had made my sister loopy years ok. X
Ha ha ha funny that lol. Ooo the ones your brothers on 🤪 that was a surprising dent in my day lol. Didn't get on with those at all. You could always phone up your doctors reception and ask if the results are in ? Take a photo if he pulls them up on screen. Your allowed to, it's your records lol. I've got loads
Don't forget to take it easy tho xx good talking to you
