Well.. what can i say i havnt been on here for nearly a year, its really good to see how everyones is doing and gettin on with all their treatments and recoveries. Febuary 2011 when i was 17.. (im now 18) i was diagnosed with a rare case of ovarian cancer, it was a borderline tumour of my ovaries which had moved to a part of my liver, in march of 2011 i had a full hystorectomy with removing a bit of my liver, it seems still so unreal as i found out i had the tumour in the feb and it was gone by the march 2011.. i feel lucky in a way but as i was so young i know ive still alot grieving as i dont have children and never will b able to biologicly. My mum was a carrier of the BRCA1 and the gynacologist and doctors were adimont i was a carrier and it had been past down but it was so shocking as im not a carrier and it was just a rare case it was 1 out of 20,000 in ten years! unlucky ehh! in one way i was lucky becuase borderline tumours are unlikely to spread fast atall it means chemo wont shrink them unlike my mum who had breast cancer in 2002 and had chemo she lost all her hair so i had already been through it with my mum but didnt really know what to expect, so basically the doctors knew it wouldnt help so they decided the best way to deal with it would b just to remove the ovaires uterous, womb, diafram, and a bit of my liver, again its now a year on i think i recovered really well and i hope any1 in my situation feels like the cant get through it because if i can!!! yous sure will it is about keeping positive and talking because ive recently been holding my feelings in and its not good becuase holding them in will just make them come out all at once which is really hard and emtional especially for my partner who i give all credit for as he stood by me all the way!! and i dont blame any1 for what happened to me im grateful to be here i really am

It's really good to hear you are doing so well. It's also good you're back on here, cos we are all united by the same ****** illness and we all need to share frustrations, moans, successes, hopes and dreams with the others on here. It's sometimes difficult for our families and friends to know how to cope when things get rough, so get on here and you'll get replies pretty quick!
Just wanted to say well done for surviving the first year and, as one who is nearly ten years clear of borderline ov cancer, may you go on from strength to strength
I'm much older than you but I have a friend who is the same age as me, in her 40's and she had a similar thing to you when she was young, in her early 20's. She is fine now and has been ever since she had her surgery.She became a doctor. I don't know how it must be to have gone through this so young but I just wanted to let you know about my friend so that when things feel rough you might be able to hold onto the fact that you have a bright future in front of you with so many choices. You're right, have your feelings, and also make your plans
You're a credit to yourself and your family, and an example to all of us on this site. You've had such bad luck to have Ovarian Cancer at such a young age. To have come through the surgery and the year with such positive thoughts about raising awareness of the disease and fundraising is truly inspirational. I hadn't seen your original blog but read your three posts this morning and wondered whether there is a support group for teenagers and young people who develop cancer and have so much to go through. If not you do seem the type of person to lead it.
I wondered how you were getting on at school or college and what your plans are for the future. I can imagine having something as major as this makes you feel very different to your friends even though they must be very proud of you. I hope you've been able to get back to a course you enjoy so you can think about the interesting career ahead of you. You have such a lot to offer!

What a truly brave person you are to have gone through so much at such a young age. No doubt there will be times when it all seems overwhelming, but you have proved you can cope and you will continue to grow stronger as the years go by. Stay positive, you are an inspiration to us all.
There is a young women's group on Ovacome, I think it's based around London though. It depends where you live .... if you type "young women's group" in the search box at the top of the page, you will find the threads. I know a young woman, daughter of someone I worked with who had ovca in about 2000 and is still fit, healthy, in a long term relationship and now looking to adopt. Small steps, though! That's all in your future.

Wow...............so young to have contracted this dreaded disease and so positive. You are truly and inspiration and you look so beautiful in your picture. I'm sure you will go on to do great things and be a positive force for any other young women who find theirselves in this 'club'.
OMG! I just wanted to say you have been so brave and at such a young age too Jasmine Rose. I truly look to you for inspiration, and how it makes alot of our problems so miniscule in comparison. I am under the hospital for cyst like lump in my breast - and like many others - so many thoughts go through my head. I am also having to have the Mirena coil removed tomorrow, having a few gynea probs with that (or so it appears, although I do have a small ovarian cyst too) the last couple of months. I now advise my daughter to regularly check her breasts and take advice with any problems with periods etc. She has had a pretty stressful time over the years with my divorce and family difficulties and she herself is only 16. Bless her. I thank you for writing your blog and giving us all hope. Everything that you say does put everything into perspective, and I would urge anyone having an "off day" to pick themselves up and read what you have to say. Like you say - if you can fight this, then we all can do our best to cope with our lot. God bless and take care.
