Hi

I’m sorry about your mum.

It sounds as if she is in the best place to get this sorted and stabilised again.Hopefully your mum will start to feel better once the doctors get on top of what is going on and then she can get back on chemo which should help get rid of the ascites aswell.

Look after yourself x

Dear Inguc

My heart goes out to you. Sometimes it is harder to deal with health problems in a loved one than it is for yourself. It can make you feel so helpless. However, Mum is in the best place to get a diagnosis and treatment. Hopefully they will do some scanning to see what is going on.

I am not sure why you are so anxious about ascites. This is fluid that builds up in the tummy and is often drained away if it becomes too uncomfortable. I would suggest you ask for an appointment with a doctor on her ward and ask your questions. If you can’t get an immediate appointment with a doctor, ask to speak to the CNS (clinical specialist nurse) Does Mum have a blockage? What is causing it.? How are they going to manage it? We can all speculate what is going on with Mum, but without the facts it would not be possible to advise you further I’m afraid. Best wishes and hugs.

I’m so sorry about your mom but I wouldn’t despair at this point. Lots of people on here have had ascites and blockages and have gotten better. The important thing now is for the medical team to figure out how to treat her.

I'm so sorry that your mother is suffering and that you are feeling so frightened and overwhelmed. I'll be thinking about you both and hoping that her doctors find a way to make her comfortable again. Blessings to you and your family. --Lani
