Not an uplifting post so as they say ......some of you may want to look away now!!
Saw Onc and as suspected the Letrozole are not working, CA125 over 5000 now. My wife has spent the last 4-5 days in bed with chronic fatigue, nausea and often vomiting. She has over the past couple of months gone down i guess 2 dress sizes, has lost a lot of muscle tone and all in all a very distressing time.
Onc says (and we knew) that she is not fit enough for a trial, also ONc says and we suspect she is right that as Carbo is the only thing that ever helped, though even that never got rid of it all, the new growth (which is quite rapid) would not respond to Carbo and perhaps my wife is too fatigued to even have it anyway.
She may go into a hospice for (i hope) a day or 2 for symptoms management and see what that may bring.
We know it is getting near that time barring a miracle and we dont seem to get them.
Going to see what happens over the next few days and take it from there.....so hope i havent spoilt anyones long weekend and take care.

Your post wouldn't upset anyone I'm sure as many of us know for certain that in time we shall be in similar circumstances. Hopefully we are all helping each other and by getting in touch and sharing your news with us it may help you, your wife and your loved ones get through a really difficult time.
I'm sending you my best wishes and shall be thinking of you. I hope you can get some help from the hospice to manage the symptoms so your wife can become comfortable. You can't give her more support and love than that.
with warmest wishes to you both. xxx Annie
Hi

So sorry to hear you are both having such an awful time. Bigs hugs to you both. Love Kerry xx
Sorry to hear your news, thank you for finding the time to place a blog here, we could do with a few more men sharing their stories on here to help the many women some who are struggling on their own at home and on this site. We are all in this together. Best wishes Paul and Sandra. Xx ( kisses from sandra cos I dont kiss men)
So very sorry to hear this news. I hope that you can both find some comfort and ease in the hospice, your wife will feel easier when she is more comfortable. I am thinking of you both and sending hopes and prayers for some calmer time for you both.

So sorry that things haven't worked out. I was a hospice nurse for a long time and I am sure you will find such support mentally and physically for you both. They are expert in symptom control. And Hospices are places of peace and funnily enough, happiness. When symptom stress is lifted you learn to live again.
With llove and thoughts to you both
Suexx
So very sorry to hear this. I often think about you - I have been reading your posts since the beginning.
I have had a couple of friends with very advanced breast cancer - it is quite amazing what hospice can do. Sometimes a day or two there achieves nigh miracles. Hospices are specialists in controlling symptoms and helping you both to make the very best of your time. Please do not be afraid of them.
Thank you for updating us at such a difficult time. I will be thinking of you.

I think it's so honest of you. Thank you. Our thoughts are very much with you both. X
You should never feel you can't post. God knows, we understand what you must be experiencing. Am so sorry to hear of it and am sending good vibes, and hoping with you. Send her all our love, and try to take care of yourself as well so you are strong for her.
I am sorry to hear your news. It must be so hard for both of you. Hospices seem to be beret able to manage symptoms and at least make your wife more comfortable. My thoughts are with you.
THANK YOU FROM US BOTH FOR YOUR SUPPORT, IT IS SO APPRECIATED. AS AN UPDATE BECAUSE THERE ISNT ANY ROOM IN THE HOSPICE AT THE MOMENT I HAVE BEEN GIVEN A PRESCRIPTION FOR STEROIDS AND SHE IS GOING TO HAVE THEM TO BOOST ENERGY. THE DISTRICT NURSE IS ALSO POPPING AROUND AT SOME POINT.
Just realised i was in caps - yesterday evening and thru the night she was fine ish and managed to eat a bit and have some vitamin drinks....We are of course hoping that the steroids will help a bit with energy.....once again thanks x
Thank you for sharing how things are at the moment, sad times but precious moments too. When my father was in similar circumstances the hospice care provided for him and us was amazing, one of my cherished memories is of my father sitting at the hospice piano playing and singing, but most of all smiling. There are many other moments, there are always miracles and always love.
Many prayers for you both with lots of love Amanda xx
Like everyone else I send you both my love and will pray for you - that you get all the support that you need from the medics, family and friends. And that the steroids do the trick in boosting energy and appetite.
I'm very sorry to hear about your wife's condition. Don't worry about her going into a hospice as that's where I am right now. The care here is excellent and my situation has improved through the use of different medication. While hospital care has its limitations, over here nothing is too much trouble, their specialist advice resolved my bowel obstruction and the surroundings are calm, positive and the food is freshly cooked to order.
We have had a decent last few days, she has eaten a bit, we have gone for a little walk and she feels a bit stronger. Assuming its the steroids, but whatever it is good. Once again thanks so much for the support.........Jurassic (Marilyn), thanks and good luck to you.
So pleased that things have been more comfortable for your lovely wife. I am sure we are all thinking of her. I know I have been, often, praying for things to be calmer for you both.
I am very sorry to hear this. Has she tried Tamoxifen? It doesn't work for everyone, but it is working for me so far. My CA 125 continues to go down. If the doctor agrees it might be worth a try. Gemzar/carbo worked for a while. I was in a clinical that worked for a while and now the Tamoxifen seems to be working. I also take Curcumin, Astragulas, and ashwaghunda.
All my thoughts and prayers are with you and your wife. When she regains her strength, there may be other worthwhile trials!! You are such a wonderful husband, and I don't know if I could have made it through all this without the support and love of mine. Thank God for husbands like you!!! xx
