Lansoprazole and diarrhoea

 Three days ago I stopped taking Lansoprazole as it was causing me diarrhoea. However,the acidity in my stomach and oesophagus is now very uncomfortable. I've taken taken two Ranitidine but still feel acidy. Peptac works for a while but doesn't last.Does anyone have any suggestions please?

Hi, I couldn't take Lansoprazole because it made me I'll.Omeprazole works fine for me .Ask your doctor for a change of meds.x

Hi and thanks Jumpey. Aren't we all different. Omeprazole made me quite unwell whereas Lansoprazole worked fine apart from the diarrhoea. I'll get there. After the endoscopy found silent reflux I was given Peptac which works sometimes for a short while. How is that different from Gavescon advance? The listed ingredients seem to be the same but obviously there must be some magic addition!

Coming off PPI's can cause terrible acid rebound reflux. You could try Gaviscon Advance.

have you decided what is causingthe acidity? then stop takingit. ~Lots of the E numbers cause it. Spoonfuil of thick Greek yoghurt is nice and effective too. Is currently helping me manage steroids.

Thanks chotiroti. It seems like anything I like triggers it as if some nasty genie is watching my every move!!!!! So wine, coffee, croissants are all off my menu for a while. I eat a lot of yoghurt which I love so I hope the genie misses that! I'm down to 6mg prednisolone for the PMR so wondered if that was causing my tiredness. Difficult to know what's doing what. I'll get there just not happy lounging about 😕
